Making new map graphics

Post by benpark »

I am trying to start with a pre-existing map to create a new scenario. I have the bigmap.bmp that I have added the map to, without altering anything about the size etc-purely cosmetic. Problem-the map I have added doesn't show up-just the blank bigmap.

I would like to know where to place the roads, rivers and cities as close to the real map as possible. Any way to do this?

I checked Run5, but the info on BiN scenario making is a little thin. Also not addressed in manual.

Thanks.

Alright, I imported the map after a lot of trial and error. Now-how do I dump each part (roads, rivers...) in this editor? Can't figure it out...

To see the new bigmap.bmp you have to recompile the scenariopicts.xcr. There's a good tutorial for doing this on the Run5 website.

Rivers, roads, and railroads are changed using the Map Data section of the editor. These are done 1 hex side at a time (either adding or removing). Refer to page 2 of the BIN_Editor pdf file.

A new feature in the v1.01 editor is the ability to paint hex control, terrain type, region number, and sea lanes. Press "cntl" key and then move mouse cursor to paint the data.

Map done, OOB done, AI needs coding and playtesting...and I need more days in the week!
