Optimum Attacker/Defender Troop Ratio

Post by JaguarUSF »

It seems that the main problem I have is attacking with too few troops, getting them annihilated, and the enemy coming back and dominating me. So, what's the ratio of your troops to enemy troops that seem viable to attack? I've seen quoted somewhere 2 to 1 is the least you'd want to go with (if an enemy had 15 units in a territory, you'd want to attack with 30). Any thoughts?

If you are facing an inferior force (i.e. the enemy is militia and you are attacking with tanks) 1-1 is plenty.

If the enemy is equal in quality 2-1 is safe.

If you are at a quality disadvantage then 3-1 or 4-1 is required. With 4-1 numerical superiority an all militia force can dislodge an all tank force. You will loose one militia for each tank in the field and you will probably not hurt any of the armor but you will force them to retrete with the human wave effect. This works well for the Russians and Chinese.

Interesting.....that's what I figured. However, what SHOULD be done and what I end up doing in the game sometimes are two totally different things :)
