This is a "board" game?
Why? Who plays board games anymore? Best dust off my copy of 1914 and have at it![;)]

Have you checked out Lock n Load?
Seeing is believing. I believe many games where sold and believe it or not there is still a market for boardgames. I'd buy it if I had someone to play agaimst and the time.
Like Ive said before this is a fantastic addition to Matrix and a fether in their cap.

Lock N Load is a beautiful game, and if you cannot find an opponent, you can play it online with VASSAL. There are usually plenty of people to play.

It sure is. And it implies 82nd Airborne is vapourware

Joe,
82nd is an individual soldier game this is a squad based game similar to squad battles and ASL.

Still a board game ... hassle to set-up, hassle to keep up and hassle to play! Sorry I am a computer game oriented gamer now. Used to play 1914 (1969), Blizkrieg, TSS, orginal SL, Wach Am Rhien, Just sold War in Europe (unpunched), La Battel La Moskava or Borodino (the original monster game) and on and on!

hassle to set-up
Hi Capt'n,
Now I know I'm not really going to change your mind, but...
Fully half of the scenaris I've designed for LnL can be set up in less than five minutes. Many of them can be played in 45 minutes. I know a little bit about computer games, as a matter of fact I know a LARGE bit about computer games, and I think I've incorperated much of the good of them into LnL --good-looking graphics, easy set up, easily learned rules, surprise, changing victory conditions.
On top of all that you don't need an opponent across the street. With VLnL you can play anyone in the world, right now, using the full spendor of the game's graphics. Think I'm exaggerating? Download the demo and see.
Best,
Mark

RE: This is a "board" game?
I am getting this board game (even though I have no room/time/opponents).
I would also really love to see a computr version-as straight a port in terms of the way the game looks and plays-but with an AI to play against, and a scenario editor (I can day dream, can't I?).

Fully agree.
I always go and hve a look at the lock n load site just to look at the counters.
I too might buy it even though it will never get played.
I will sit and dream about it and a PC conversion.
Maybe a petition should be set up for who wants a straight conversion.

The Vassal conversion of Lock 'n Load means that those who know the game can play across the internet as easily as at a table. Those who would like to see this on a computer, you need to give that a try once Band of Heroes is out. It really makes board gaming over the internet easy.

As Joe Elliot say... "You betcha." You will never see some lame-ass interpretation of the game like Microprose did to Squad Leader. The computer version of LnL will feature the same beautiful art, interactive impulse system, more events (they are easier in a compter game), and a campaign. Still the same combat resolution, damage checks, etc, etc. It will rock! One day... [:D]

I have a feeling this forum will just be about a PC conversion rather than the actaul game being produced.
Maybe a new sticky thread about a conversion should go up so it keeps it separate from the actual boardgame threads.

No thank you, I want a "computer version" of this an all others and a good PBEM feature, I too would rather have it on computer than a board wargame. They are ancient history, except for "Squad Leader" hehe It's the only one I will still play someone face to face.

So Matrixgames get off your laurels and start working on a computer version of this game, the graphics of it are really nice as far as I'm concerned. Get to work now, computer version, all in favor say "EYE"!

WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik!
and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

EYE!
That said, you are way wrong about board games and anciant history. The board game side of the war and strategy game industry waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay oustells the computer game side. Stuff like HeroScape, Warhamer 40K, Settlers of Catan, Memoir '44, and many others outsell everything but big titles like World at War.
But of course, I'm sure ClnL would cange all that. [;)]
And a separate forum? Nah, that's way to organized. I host everything from Formula One to Viginia Tech football forums on the LnL site. You guys want to talk? Talk. Let's have fun.
Best,
Mark
