serial number location?

Hi, I'm trying to install the new patch. Should I be looking for the CD sleeve or the manual to find my serial number [8|]

on the cd sleeve called registration key for confusion purposes.

I understand the need for such things as an anti-piracy measure, but as one who could probably hide is own Easter eggs and be genuinely puzzled when trying to finding them, I always write the number on the disc with a Sharpie. Probably not the best solution, since if the disc was lost or stolen the finder or purloiner would have the key, but what the heck.

I have some pretty bad memories of searching vainly for CD keys for apps and games, and tearing what little hair I have out in frustration.[&:]
