The most annoying part of the game!
The most annoying part of the game!
Spending the entire game chasing one unit all over the map because it can move wherever it wants just leisurly destroying all your supply depots.
I move to the province its in to destroy it. It moves to the next and destroys my depot.

Surely if you chase it with more than one stack and some decent leaders you can chase it down. Who is leading this enemy corps or army that is so agile? If it is moving to the next province, can you move there ahead of it anticipating its move?

Im chasing it with two stacks with leaders. These are Russian Cossacks and Infantry that keep popping up in Spain. They come right through France my ally. There is no one leading these they are just units by themselves....

Why are the militia in my home provinces not enough to prevent this? I have to put an army in every province???

Sure, e-mail it to erikr@matrixgames.com.
2gaulle's advice is also good and historically forces were left along supply lines to forestall these kinds of maneuvers as well. Have you tried garrisoning your depot areas?

And dont 'garrison' per se by putting them in the fortress. Have them 'out' in the territory.
Nevertheless, I do agree that they can be too hard to track down. I played Spain as well and had Russia units (!) roaming around and they kept retreating into neutral Portugal. Then, every turn or so they'd come out and attack and if I didnt leave units stacked in in evey territory they pillage and burn and siege with little I could do to prevent it. So, one depleted unit of Russians tied down about 5-6 divisions of mine (because of the need to garrison each adjacent province with enough to beat them.
Personally, I still think some sort of massive 'cut off from home' morale effect needs to be implemented. Then, when morale is below 'x' for 'y' number of turns, the unit should simply surrender or disband.

That was brought up in another thread. They are looking to change it.

what you talking about ?
that does not stop the depot from being killed off
you can have 300 K in troops in a city area, and if a battle is fought, the depot is destroyed
a Div on it's own will be avoided, it needs to be in a Army or Corps to fight
I try to leave depots next to where the main battle will be fought, and a keep a army or two behind to protect them (and then can be pulled in as Reinforcements if needed)
in my wars, most times looks like Rus and Turk, have more troops out roaming the countryside, then they have in there Armies

POW bug:

The POW corps is a special unit you received along with the prisoners. You can move POW divisions between POW corps, but you cannot take POW divisions out of POW corps to have them seperate or put them into other corps or armies.
In your screenie, you should be able to take the POW corps out of your army, but not take a POW division alone. Please have another go - I am sure this worked in my last game.

Ive tried everything....
I can separate them at the turn. But at the next turn they are right back with the army...

RE: The most annoying part of the game!
Here is the wonderful Russian Cossack unit that moved right through my armies at the border of France into Spain.
I did as you guys said and took all my militia out of the forts to prevent this but this did nothing. The depot was still destroyed and my militia did not attack....

RE: The most annoying part of the game!
Here is the turn right before:
Notice all the depots and the armies preventing any entry from France. Also all my militia are out of their forts in each province.
Notice on the turn after the depots are destroyed and the Russian Cossack goes wherever he wants...including through my armies....
