aircraft upgrades

Can someone explain to me how to upgrade aircraft. How do you do it? When do you do it?

I have seen the Upgrade path pages, but when and how?

You provide a base with plenty of supply and it just happens.
There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

The manual (section 18.7)says:
(a) group needs to be with maximum range of Truk, Noumea or Brisbane with sufficient planes in the pool.
(b) checks every day.

Make sure you cycle your POS squadrons (umm. . . . P-400s and P-39s) within range of Noumea or, more likely, Brisbane when you have sufficient P-39s and P-38s available. Nothing worse then sending up good pilots in POS when there are better aircraft avaiable.
