i didnt try it myself but iirc a guy had posted in the AAR about his ill-fated WA troops got wiped out in the d-day in denmark.

the down-side of the d-day in denmark is that unless u got a huge fleet to protect the transports that connect denmark w/ england (or norway if its under WA's control) all retreating WA (assuming the ger has made a successful counter-attack and retook denmark) will be destoryed if the ger can wipe out all transprots!

u may argue that WA will meet the same fate when they landed in w_france. but the pt is:
1) u got two sea regions connecting w-france w/ england and its generally more difficult to cut the transport link (if the ger navy is that strong, WA should think twice b4 going for the d-day);
2) more ger units are within the range to launch the denmark counter-attack (esp. armor units freshly rolling out from the factory floors in all 4 ger regions);
3) if WA holds the breahhead after the first counterattack, WA and take one or two of the 3 france region as an alternative retreat route but its a w-ger-or-none in the denmark scenario.

but the bottomline is, if the WA navy + air support is strong enough to protect the transports, denmark route could be a more direct way to take out w_ger ... so good luck!

imo, unless u need to use norway as the "airfield" for ur Ftr to attack denmark, i dont think WA need to take norway.

if u want to take finland, just go ahead or wait till Wi43 and let RUS to take care of it ... take ur time as ger cannot move the finland boys or reinforce finland w/ ger army as finland stays politically frozen.

but for d-day purpose, finland is too far to make an impact and its always a better idea to create a double-team in two diff directions instead of one single direction.

but if i wait till 43 taking finland will be impossable.ie the battle of karkov. germany retreats into a better possition.

German AI would always seem to attack the Azores in my games as WA, thus placing Portugal under Allied control. With Portugal and Gibraltar under my belt, Spain fell rather easily and the liberation of Europe began from there.

Damn Soviets STILL got to Berlin before me though :(

How did they manage to put a transport chain in the Atlantic in order to invade Azores?

No I think they bombed it from France. As for other bizzare German AI decisions,
I've actually had a game as WA where Axis didn't invade France, taking only Norway, Denmark and Netherlands :S

I've played a campaign where germany failed to take France. Ended up in a Huge blood bath and stalemate for a few years.
Something was strange though, my 200 combined units attacked west germany with defenders of 100. I lost 40men had to retreat and only destoryed 7.

AS for invading denmark, its a good idea. Might try it and land some sort of Raid to play havoc in the enemy lines.
