Only an ANAL doofus would say SPWaW was 3rd best.

Its obviously the best game out there.

I'm going to hunt down all the people that voted improperly and make them pay.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Dope Wars??? Sim City Classic maybe due to its wide appeal. I thinks spwaw should at least be 2nd.

Have you ever played dope wars? It's fun. The simple reason would be that dope wars is playable by ANY person. Making its appeal very broad. Simcity classic is more complicated than what the average guy wants, and SPWAW well.. I don't think I need to explain that. Aside from that fact, dope wars is kinda addictive. It's worth playing a few times just to see.

Well, consider the source. PC Gamer is not actually a wargaming mag, rather, I think many of the primary audience are more into running down hallways and fragging things. Try the head on approach in SPWAW. What! My guys don't respawn?!

Equals monkey reflexes and a fast twitching finger. Ever try to flank an opponent in Quake 3?

These people might have judged Steel Panthers from a perspective different from ours.
That´s the perspective of Joe Mundane who wants a fast free gaming thrill.
He does not consider PBEM or ordering Megacampaigns.

Now, while SP does have playability with its "campaigns" and single scenarios (which, in all my years of gaming, I´ve almost never played in any game-except as a tutorial perhaps) and is very good (warranting a 3rd place) would SPWAW be what it is without PBEM or Megacampaigns?

Personally, I would of moved SimCity up to #1 and pushed Dope Wars down to number #2. Dope Wars taught me capitalism, SimCity taught me the difficulty of city-building, but SP:WAW didn't teach me warfare. You have to come with that already ingrained.
