There are AARs reporting this on (rare) occasions. Doesn't happen that often, and especially NOT with sub combat as it is now (not including 1.7x patches which are still in beta...) Mostly, people have their subs FLEE from CVs at this point.

in my game with Mogami, Dutch Sub O19 attacks a Carrier 60nm SSW of Kendari. The victim was HMIJS CVL Shoho, with 2 Torpedo hits. She was later hit by (3) 1000lb bombs and sank.

Speaking of lucky hits, I once sank the Yamamoto with one 16" shell on the first shot of a night battle. I don't know if that could have happened in RL.

In the PBEM game I am playing the I-10 put two torpedoes in the Enterprise and one in the Yorktown on the same day. The next day she hit the big E again. Five or so days later I got confirmation Enterprise went down.

Needless to say when I-10 is spotted there is a vigerous allied responce and she has had to take three vacations in Tokyo to recover from these greetings.

yeah, when a carrier gets near a sub, the most likely event is the end of the sub [:-]

Sinking one man with a 1 ton shell is hardly an accomplishment..., even a near miss would stun him into drowning. Now if you had sunk the YAMATO with one shell, that would be impressive......

I had an S class sub put the Shoho under near Truk in one game. She may have been hit a few weeks earlier by a 500lb bomb, but at the time she sank she was headed from Truk towards Wake Is (still in allied hands), so she couldn't have been badly damaged.

Going the other way, I had a single sub-launched torp hit sink my USS North Carolina...and I wasn't best pleased!
