According to dictionary.com...

adieu = Used to express farewell. ado = Bustle; fuss; trouble; bother.

I guess you can say "Without further farewell..." but I always thought the expression used "ado" rather than "adieu".

Heh, yes it should definitely be ado. I should have caught that but it slipped by - I guess Joe is actually French, but he doesn't know it...
