What is France's training upgrade position at the start of the 1792 Scenario?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

What is France's training upgrade position at the start of the 1792 Scenario?

Post by Clausel »

In the 1792 Scenario France at the start has a training level of 6.39 and 4 upgrades - March Training 1, Skirmish Training, Rapid March, Esprit de Corps). After 1 turn the level is still 6.39 but a further 4 upgrades have been added - Corps System, Flanking Tactics, Levee en Masse and Mixed Order. Is the latter the actual start position? No other countries show a difference after turn one.

So you don't get any more upgrades until you increase infrastructure in provences. Is there a "tech tree" that explains what infrastructure must be increased to gain certian upgrades?

over all, each area does deferent things

Culture and Barracks will gain you Upgrades, your random choice when they do

Culture and Courts will help and or stop waste

Barracks will improve Troops

Factorys will improve labor, textile

the others should be easy to figure out

I think some of the posted readme's will give better details on what is what

There's no "tech tree." Every time you qualify for an upgrade you get a random list of possibilities: every upgrade you don't already have has a 33% to be on that list.

It's true that nations start scenarios with a fixed set of upgrades. These are found in players2.txt and can be modded in scenario files. If anyone is interested in modding these, I can post a file showing numbers and the corresponding upgrades in the mod section.

How do you actually train your troops? I see the upgrades, but cant select or train them up, or are the upgrades automatic for your troops in the field?

Yep, once you have the upgrade, your whole army magically acquires it.
Not too realistic, but I imagine working it otherwise would be a programming nightmare.
