Great Game today Heartbreak Ridge

Post by wodin »

I decided to give an order to the highest HQ to attack the objective.

It was great to watch. My commander split his forces so that he attacked from both flanks and came in behind.

During the battle I give orders on the spot when needed.

Things I'd love to see is exactly how many men each unit started with. You could then get a better picture of casualties.

I'd also like to see how many casualties each unit caused the enemy at the end of the scenario.

Also on zoomed out view is there anyway to make the units smaller. Its damn hard to get a true idea where the units are when zoomed out.

Use the small Icon display toggle.

It's the key under escape, "~", on US keyboards.

wodin,

That's news to me. Does this mean that on UK keyboards, the key immediately to the left of the "1" is "@" and not "~"? Well if so, you leran something every day! [:)]

No the @ key is just along from the enter key. In between the #,; but you have to use shift then it goes from left to right : @ ~.

The key to the left of the 1 is ` and with the shift ¬.

The differences between UK and US keyboards is weird. When I bought Flight Sim 2004 I couldn't get the nice new pixel shader water effects to work. I was just getting the old plain blue water. I checked the forums and someone said that changing from UK to US keyboards fixed the problem for him. I thought 'you're taking the mick' Of course I tried it, and it worked!

Because of that my main computer still uses a US keyboard but my laptop has the UK keyboard which means when I type the @ in my email address I'm constantly hitting the wrong key.

Mighty strange.

In the same vein there are also subtle differences between French and Belgian(fr) keyboards. Especially with the special characters []{}@#\~| only available with a special AltGr (or Ctrl-Alt) key modifier. Great fun for writing C code.

And about strange stories with programs that work with a kind of keyboard or another, my first boss told me that once he had to debug MS-Word macros at one of his customer site because he had typed them with a be-fr keyboard, while the machine was fr.

And to try to keep the thread on subject :
wodin, glad you liked it. Heartbreak Ridge used to be one of my fav' in AA:RdoA and the first I won. I reckon it's a bit dull with improved AI in HttR. Nevertheless, great fun.
