a511 and Lebatron vs Stonewashedjackson and Dobeln

Post by Lebatron »

This game will be played using Franco's Alliance v2.3 with fog, advanced supply, and fuel on.

The players are:
Germany - a511
Japan - Lebatron
Russia/Ch -Stonewashedjackson
WA's -Dobeln

First turn observations.
Germany decided not to take Norway.
Germany took Yugo first turn instead.
Nothing radicle in the Med, a511 just put his fleet into the central Med and put CAP over it.

Japans first turn. Thats me.
I decided to take Foochow on the first turn, and expend the production that would be necessary to do so on turn 1. But I did it a little different from the AI's method. I didn't send in the 4 carriers and expend the 20 supply that method would entail. I choose to instead attack without the air support and thus save the supply. In the end I damaged 2 of my inf and 1 ARTY I believe. That will cost me 3 production points to repair so I quess I came out ahead by 1 production point by not using the carrier air.

Russia and WA's. What they did turn 1.
Dobeln only left 1 militia, 1 flak, and 1 art in Scotland. Guess what happened on turn 2? Ya it was to good to pass up so a511 pounced on it. He managed to damage all 3 units with just his HB's and a L.F. They were pretty good rolls. The only thing his invading infantry had to fight was the lone militia that poped up. Scotland is firmly in Axis hands now. But Germany did leave his 3 transports out to dry. Which I'm sure Dobeln will finish off.

Stonewashed decided to front up a bunch of his Chinese into Liuchow, which is on the coast. 9 land units and 1 fighter total. This was something I decided not to pass up. I launched a huge amphibious invasion supported by 5 BB's and 1 LF, plus used the surrounding troops. I whiped out almost all the Chinese. I believe 2 retreated. My losses were 3 militia, 3 damaged inf, 1 damaged HB, and 1 damaged fighter. I felt it was worth it. Now the Chineses are looking mighty thin everywhere.

If Germany succeeds in taking London on turn 3, Franco will join the Axis. Once Spain is unfroze it will almost certainly take over Gibraltar.

Well, that was a pretty decent-sized screwup. Still haven't gotten the turn though.

Japan turn 3, fall 1940
Well as expected the WA's pulled everything they could spare to hold London. Actually to much for the moment, because Gibraltar was left totally empty. When the Germans took Gibraltar Franco was so impressed he decided to join the Axis. Some of Spain's infantry were redeployed to North Africa. At sea the Germans inflicted some good damage to the English fleet. I believe 2 or 3 BB's were destroyed. Notice where the German subs sit. I wonder if the British would dare? Anyway, good work a511.

Nothing very eventful going on for Japan at the moment. All I did was destroy 2 more Chinese by bombing, then repositioned some troops around.

Frankly, I believe this game is over for all practical purposes. My Scotland screwup doomed the Allies. :/

well, never say never ... while losing the isles will make it difficult, WA still got a lot of power to fight.

Ger Wi41 update:

as expected, the royal navy, with royal airforce support, made the final attempt to block the english channel. their brave attempt is denied by the nazi airforce and navy but both sides have received heavy losses.

meanwhile, the nazi african corp has made a successful landing at cario. Med is my swimming pool now!!

Japan turn 4, Winter 1941
Germany moved 12 more infantry into Scotland and attacked the British fleet in the North Sea. It was a huge battle. Loses were about equal. If I recall there were about 6 fighters from each side that fought first. Then Germany followed up with the bombers, then the surface ships. In the end it was just enough to get them all. The sea zone had been cleared for the new transports Germany had built. At this point, I guess it's safe to say that a511's plan had been Sealion all along. But dobeln's fatal error allowed a511 to launch Sealion earlier than expected. Also the Med is now closed because Cairo was captured this turn.

I figure its safe to spill my plans now too. My plan had been to shoot for the new Japanese AV condition that's included in Franco's Alliance. Of the two new ones I added, going for Eastern India and the Chinese capital seemed the logical choice since a511 was going for Sealion. With this turn, I launched my forces into China and struck at Changsha. Since Stonewashedjackson had forwarded to many troops to the coastline earlier, I am not going to encounter much resistance now. Changsha only had 3 divisions plus the 6 free militia to stand against the 18 divisions I sent in. In the attack, I only suffered 2 hits on my infantry, so things look very good for Japan. Next I followed up with many bombing attacks to clear out some more Chinese forces in the other territories. My 4 new HB's came on this turn and were used in this role. I expect to fan out and take the Capital and 1 or 2 extra territories next turn.

Yea, looking grim - trying to hold the North Sea was a last-ditch gambit with a small probability of success, but now I do believe it's lights out. With China conquered in 2-3 turns, you should be looking at AV real soon now :)

regarding ur north sea blockage, thats what i was expected (as i will do the same if i were u[;)]) so i have already upgraded my bombers. in fact, both the Ger airforce and navy performed badly.

if i did not destory the "H fleet" in Fa40, i dont think i have enough assets to clear north sea in one turn[:'(].

of course we are striving for an AV but imo theres still some distance from that ... should be long enough to have stonewash's SU T-34 to fight head on with the nazi panzers.

btw, still waiting for the Sp41 turn [:)].

Ger Sp 41

London's fallen!!!
while it's inevitable, the deployment of CW troopers to defend "east italian africa" make Ger's job easier and with minimal losses (even w/o my panzers' involve).

Ger high command believes that the british government has reestablished their new office in india and a couple of infantry units and flaks should be deployed to india ...

else, the italian navy have wipe out the remaining 2 royal navy BBs in the Red Sea.

Japan turn 5, Spring 1941
Not only has London fallen, all Chinese resistance has been squashed. I took its capital plus 3 other territories. It's looking rather red over there. Let this be a lessen to all that it's a huge mistake for China to get aggressive to soon. Stone's mistake was to forward several troops to the coast. The proper thing to do is pull back, either to Changsha or the capital depending on your philosophy.

As I expected Dobeln pulled what he could out of England rather than see it get destroyed. Obviously he's going to make a stand in India now. Since I have taken few loses in China, and my production seen a nice boost, I think I will be able to overcome Dobeln's defense there.

Japan turn 6, Summer 1941
The last Chinese province I'm interested in taking has been secured with no loses. The last 2 in the far west are not worth the effort so I will leave them be. But I will keep up the strat bombing on his last factory just so it can't produce. China doesn't has the supply to repair it this time, so it's out of the game unless Stone sends more Russian aid.

Many of my troops are still deep in China and it will take me some time to reposition myself and swap them for militia. So my Allied friends enjoy this break while you can[8D]

Japan turn 7, Fall 1941
No action from me this turn as I took everything in China last turn. Now that I had some left over supply I was able to move all my DD's into position for a strike on the Allied shipping around Australia. The Allies should expect to lose about another dozen transports once I make my move.

Babarossa went well. a511 was able to extend to the usual point. Notice the pocket he left. Smart! The Russian force there would be unable to attack out since there is only 1 supply point. The factory is trapped.

the SU managed to counter-attack, in an attempt to break through the kiev pocket, and even managed to damage 1 and destory 1 9-9 nazi panzer in kharkov[X(] but kharkov is still under GER control as the panzers did enough damage to the SU force.

the SU responsed the GER's persia expedition force by deploying 10+ units, including 1 armor unit to the perisa border [8|]

kiev's fallen and the kiev pocket was over ... but the GER airforce disapponted me again in an attempt to wipe out the escaped SU airforce ...

Japan turn 8, Winter 1942
Operation clean sweep was executed this turn. Almost all Allied shipping in the Pacific has been destroyed and even some in the Indian ocean too. Pearl Harbor turned out nicely with 2 destroyed BB's and 2 destroyed DD's. The WA's are down to 26 transports! I forgot to check on his DD's, but it can't be many since I destroyed 5 this turn. Remember, all the English DD's had already been destroyed by Germany.

While expending all my supplies to inflict maximun damage on UN shipping, I was unfortunatly unable to allocated the resources to take the resource rich DEI. No big deal though as my factory production is already at 19. I felt it was best to try and secure my eastern Pacific front and leave the DEI alone for now. So I took Bismarch Arch and the Solomon Islands before the US moved in and based there. Some of my DD's are exposed at the Solomon Islands and could suffer a US counter strike. His carriers and the remains of the Pearl Harbor fleet could attack it. The question is, does Dobeln think it's worth it?

after repelling SU's winter attack at kharkov, GER counter-attack and took rostov and gronzy ... a move that trapped 10 SU units (incl one armor) in caucasus and pull down SU's PP to 19!

except a lone WA sub, no sign of any WA navy in atlantic ocean ...

Japan turn 9, Spring 1942.
Yes it was a huge turn for the Axis. With Germany dealing a major blow and Japan doing the same it looks to be just about over.

Germany took out the Russian transport in the Caspian Sea with a HB, and now the Russians have no way to resupply their forces in the Caucasus. It also appears to be hopeless to make a break through to get supplies in. Maybe his HB can make a supply drop?

Japan was going to just push into Malaysia and also take the resource rich islands this turn, but once I moved in my HB's to Malaysia to rebase there, I noticed a juicier target. Southern India was only defended by 1 infantry, and he had a nice stack of 20 supply there. No supply was in Eastern India. I realized if I took Southern India, his forces in E. India, without supply, would be unable to attack me. I had to do it, even though I had to pull 5 transports and change what I was planning to do this turn, it was worth it. In order to ensure success I had to invade S. India with 4 infantry just in case he hit me. But before I launched this invasion I struck S. India's port where 2 LF and 3 transports were stationed. Luckily I had most of my air force in range for this. The attack was carried out with 2 fighters and 6 HB's. I managed to destroy 1 LF and all 3 transports. Then I struck with my 4 infantry. His infantry hit, but since I had 3 left I forced a retreat. Now his 20 supply is gone and his LF had to leave port. I imagine Germany will take care of that one for me, as well as any remaining transports in the Indian Ocean.

Here are 2 pics of each theater.

Ger SU42

SU launched a surprise attack at Finland and took finland in two attempts.

in return, Ger have taken the Leningrad, Stalingrad (?) and a couple of other regions north, north-west of Moscow with little loss.

in the middle east, WA has left italian east africa virtually empty, except a lone HB ....
the italian launched a amph attack with two milita .... while italian east africa has been taken ... the WA HB managed to retreat to southern india [X(] i thought it is range 5 from italian east africa ... could be a bug [:-]
