Combat report spillover

Post by Roger Neilson »

On the 1.8 doing CHS extended map I love the way we now have combat data on the report screen. Brilliant guys!

However, some of the reports are too long for the display panel so the last bit of the info gets lost in the picture. Looks like all it needs is a slight reworking of the background screen so more of the neutral report background is available for the report to go onto.

I assume for those artists amongst us this is such a simple thing?

Sigh, got to go to work.... ah well got two moves done on 1.8

Or alternatively just attack with less troops to ensure the length of the line remains in the white area [:)]

Thanks for that Cobra, there can still be a slight overspill in CHS with the modified one, but its a lot beter than it was. Really needs a new 'old fashioned' clipboard that's bigger ans losing the guy in the background!

Cheers

Below is a duplicate of the post in the support thread:

Sorry - did not notice this during testing. I appreciate Peter putting out an art fix but the best way is to correct the text in the display.

In the next patch we can remove the word "Beginning" from each of the displays - this should shorten them enough to fit in the graphic. In the meantime the display is still useful.

Better to just move the starting and ending attack values to a newline, directly below the forces line.

Cleaner division of information anyway.

I'm not sure I agree with this. There is already a lot of data on a lot of lines - a scroll bar is quite common.

Does anyone feel that removing the word "Beginning" would damage the meaning of the line??

How about "Nominal" or "Initial" ..to save a few characters?

For veteran WiTP players, removing "Beginning" wouldn't be a big deal. For new players it might be.

Personally, I think putting the information on a new line is a better solution. We already have to use the scroll bar for many naval and aerial combat anyways. Doing so for ground combat doesn't strike me as a problem.

Good idea - you can put the picture of MacArthur on toilet paper. No, come to think of it, that won't work - once the toilet paper is used there would be two pictures of MacArthur on it!

How about abreviating vehicles as AFVs? That would save a few characters also.
