Questions

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

Questions

Post by Zmoney »

Hello. First off I have to admit I'm a huge CM fan. So when I saw this game I thought it was great that someone else is going to make a similar game. I have also read the AAR and watched all the movies and read some info pertaining to this game. So I'm not a complete noob to this game. But I do have some questions that I couldn’t find answers to.

Now, for the questions/comments.

1. Will there be a demo?

2. I understand there is no scenario editor, so this would seem the replayabilty of this game (after you complete both campaigns) is nil. So are there going to be other missions to follow or are there any included with the game other than the two campaigns?

The reason this is crucial to me is because I just bought a game last month for $45 and after I played both sides through a campaign I haven't played it since and doubt I ever will again because it doesn't seem (at least to me) to be that fun to play H2H.

This game like CM seems to be a game that will make for some fun H2H matches, but again once you’ve played a campaign once it would be lame to play it again and again because you’d already know what to expect.

I have many more questions but that is enough for now from me. My second question is probably the biggest one I have. This is really my big hang up about buying this game. I love the campaign system you have set up. I always thought one of the big reasons that PG was such a great game was because of the way they had their campaigns set up to where you had some control over what units you had. I’m glad to see you have adopted a similar system.

The graphics are cool enough other than all the vehicles being the same size and them turning black instantly after being KO’ed and not remaining on fire etc…….. You have also added in a lot of great features that I thought CM was missing; on the other hand it seems you have left out a lot of other great features that made CM a great game. I know I know this isn’t CM that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying that I think this game had potential to learn what worked and what didn’t and it seems they added new features that were missing from old CM games but left out some stuff that was cool.

Anyways enough of that rant, as of now because of the replayabilty issue I wouldn’t want to pay more than $20 for this game. I’m not saying I won’t buy this game for whatever the price is going to be, I’m just saying I wouldn’t want to. Btw how much is this game going to be?

Hi, thanks for your interest, I will answer what I can for now and wait for Erik to jump in to clarify in depth:
I understand there is no scenario editor,

You can edit scenarios. They are editable XML files. Replayability is actually pretty good.
are there going to be other missions to follow or are there any included with the game other than the two campaigns?

We are allready working on new scenarios packs.
but again once you’ve played a campaign once it would be lame to play it again and again because you’d already know what to expect.

For H2H it is very replayable, both sides can purchase units to their likings. We also have a skirmish map / level.
The graphics are cool enough other than all the vehicles being the same size and them turning black instantly after being KO’ed and not remaining on fire etc……..

The vehicles are in scale, some wrecks keep smoking / burning for a while after been hit, some not. It is random.

The game is not intended to copy or rival CM at all. It is its very own system based on "Panzer War" rules. Most people see it as a "CM clone", which it is be no means, simply because of being 3D, World War 2 and tanks [;)]

As for demo and price, please check the respective forum threads.

I think replayability of the campaign will be greatly enhanced by the community by giving out modified versions with new defenders and defender positions. Editing will be slightly annoying while we are just hacking ASCII files but doable.

Nothing worse than a KV-1 showing up at the wrong party :)
