This unit cannot be motorized any further.
(i.e. within these historical TOEs)

You can replace the smaller Truck with a larger capacity truck, but it will not have a major impact.

All of these LCUs are attached to Aragon or levant Hqs yet not getting enough guidance. Why might this be?

I'm still quite new to war games. I am reading a great ARR by RangerJoe, and in it, (s)he mentions "Devices".

But, what is a device? why is that important? when I look at a unit car, the list of "squads", is that what a device is?

thanks :)

I took out the wagons and put in trucks but still not enough. How bad would it be to switch the support squads with more trucks?
You can add captured devices including trucks and wagons to the unit.

When you play Nationalists, you have a hard time with motorized units because they use fuel which is scarce and tends to stay at the ports. The Republicans have more tankers so they can haul more fuel in but they still can have issues with fuel. Horse powered devices use no fuel but more supplies.

Devices are guns, vehicles, tanks, mortars (etc.) ... and squads. Everything that makes up a LCU (land combar unit 8-) ).

Then, the word device is interchangable with UNIT. What a weird word to use.

No, the unit is the collection of devices. Think platoon, company/troop/battery, then battalion/squadron, regiment, brigade, and then division.

To clarify, when I click on ONE card in the bottom area, that cart is a Platoon/Unit, is that what you mean? and then the devices make up that platoon.

Devices are not only in LCU but also in aircrafts (engines, bombs, etc) and ships (guns, torpedos, etc). You can open the game editor, choose the scenario and click Device section.

Soldiers are always organized into Squads.
If a squad has 10 men and there are (for example) 9 squads, then there are 90 soldiers.
Sometimes the term team is used. Usually for operating a machine gun or flamethrower, for example. There is a smaller number of men, 2 to 4....

A weapon, vehicle, tractor, horse wagon, tank, etc. is always one piece.

Many thanks, should have tried to use my brain a bit more :). Now another one, quote from the manual: "RSV units are also useful in moving otherwise static devices. By that they are the only means to move certain CD guns or fortifications into position. RSV units are also used in handing over devices to other nations by using the lend lease button on the Ground Unit Window.". That arises me 2 questions, 1. How ? Making the RSV and trying to merge and send the static devices from a CD doesnt work, so i was wondering if there is something missing ? And second how does the lend lease work in this case ?

Questions about the aircraft production.
(GC/T1/Republicans)
Hispano Ni.52 Airgroup screen > Aircraft Data. Build rate shows "8(0)". "8" its 8 per month. What does "0" mean?
Aircraft Production Pool with "F" only shows that all build rates for fighters "0x(0)". Why not "8" for Hispano Ni.52 at least?
Also the screen shows "Total pool points: 62". What is it?

8 pieces of NI.52 per month. Until the end date inclusive.

If it is zero, nothing is built.
(in the future, according to the date, monthly production will start and it will be visible).

I have no idea what total points mean. I haven't needed it in 4 years of development.

I have a few combat questions I wanted to run by this group.

1) If I send reinforcements to a base being attacked, is it better to send them in under defend or attack? If I'm holding on to 1 or 2 nautical miles, would defend just park them in this space until the attacker is withdrawn or will defenders work towards pushing them all the way out of the hex? Basially I'm trying to understand what's the most effect way to utilize reinforcements in a ongoing battle.

2) How do I judge momentum in multi-day battles? Is the casualty report the only way to judge if an action is effective? Iv'e seen battles last a week and have no idea if my strategy is effective or not and when/if I should the cautious/deliberate/shock attack. I know what those attacks are but are there additional data points within the combat report that suggest I should change my approach? Finally, how can I tell if my units are close to collapsing under battle?

3) Any general strategy for urban warfare? I just keep throwing men into the meat grinder hoping for a boost but it doesn't always seem to work.

Thanks!

1. If you're attacking send them in attacking, if you're defending send them in defending. No need to overcomplicate it.

2. i think casualty reports are the best indication to be honest. If you're suffering more then there are issues, if casualties are relatively even you can look more closely as to why and if you have less casualties then you should be winning.
hex control in conjunction with casualty reports is ideal. If you're suffering more casualties then it's usually not worth defending or attacking in the hex. If the goal is to delay then know you're just sacrificing them for the greater good.

3. Be mindful of enemy fort levels and artillery, bring all the guns you can.

It is absolutely essential to surround the city. And not allow any further flow of supplies.
Despite the declared specific logistics, there is still some invisible flow of supplies. And that needs to be stopped.

What does this unit do exactly? It's classified as an AA unit, but it doesn't have any AA guns.

What is it's purpose? The Republic gets a number of them

good question, I'll throw a guess that having strong signals assets it could be helpful with early air raid detection.
