RE: the AI

Yeah, I'd pretty much come to this conclusion -- I suppose one benefit of a PBEM game is that it might somewhat limit the number of hours I can put in in one day. [:)]

Huh? If Japan attacks Russia then everything from the Urals eastward will unfreeze, and Russian WR and production will increase. With no Germans to worry about, I find it implausible that the Russians would not be able to shut down the ...

RE: rationale for "no move back"

Thanks for the reply, WanderingHead. All that you say is more or less as I thought. In any case, this isn't a major issue, just a small thing I'd noticed. It rarely makes much difference.

rationale for "no move back"

<r> Hi all. Returning to the game after a long absence.<br/>
<br/>
Something that has always struck me as weird is that if I move a unit and it reveals the presence of an enemy unit (with fog of war on), I can't undo my movement. Well, that's not weird. What's weird is that if I move and don't ...

Nope -- I got it with one of the Axis. You will see a little mushroom cloud on a few of the summary screens. Cute.

RE: Axis Decisive Victory?

<t> Well, I've never won the whole world against a human opponent, or a difficult AI setting, but on normal I've easily managed to take the world twice, in two tries. Both times I attacked the USSR from both sides and knocked them out by about 1943 or 44. IMO, once you've done that, the world is won ...

RE: Axis Leader in Trouble

<t> Jimmy: A couple of additions from a guy who has played 3 or 4 games as Axis in relatively easy modes. I've actually found it relatively easy to win with a few different approaches. One was to take China almost immediately. This brings in the US, but gets you a pot of resources and a few ...

Ouch. This is almost as painful as the outcome of the Kursk combat above. I'd shed tears over that if I were the SU.

RE: Amphibious penalties: where in the rules?

Does the region count include the region from which the unit starts, and/or in which it finishes? E.g., invading from W Germany into Scotland involves two North Sea zones, but is the count 2, 3 or 4?

Maybe it's a typo, and should be "non-submarine naval units". I'm quite sure I've used US and Japan CAGs to take out transports in the Pacific when there were planes on the ...

RE: 8.2.1 Conditions That cause Op-fire

I think the key is "...units moving strategically via transports...". A HB flying to N Italy isn't moving strategically via transports.

Clarification: Factory points with damage?

<t> If this is not the appropriate place to ASK for rule clarifications, please let me know. The "Top: Rule Clarifications" thread on the main game page appears to be a listing of clarifications, and no one has asked there.<br/>

<t> No idea if this is the right place to be posting this -- if it should be elsewhere, please suggest where. It's a quickish AI suggestion, although I have no idea how to implement it. I know it's hard to make good AI, so please take it as a friendly suggestion rather than a rant about "dumb AI". I ...

RE: An endless game?

<r> Yeah, the Chinese supplies are weird. I've looked over the world map 20 times. At first I missed the Aleutians; then it was Guam; then Cyprus. But I can't find any other trivial little pieces of land. It's naturally not very important at this point, but by the end of it I only really finished ...

An endless game?

<t> I'm just finishing up a no auto victory, no end date game. Problem is, it won't end. The Axis control every last scrap of land, except the impassable ones. I even occupied all the neutrals. There are no non-Axis units on the map, although according to the unit summary there are 7 Chinese supply ...
