RE: Cavalry vs Cavalry bug?

<t> Even in ancient times there are startlingly few examples of cavalry successfully charging infantry from the front (of course generally speaking the infantry formed at least four ranks deep, most often 8 ranks or deeper). Even a trained warhorse will not charge into&nbsp;steady infantry who are ...

RE: PBEM

Just email your save game file for the last turn to your friend. No need to zip. He puts it in his save game folder and opens it. if I recall correctly.

As I can't find the beta patch in the members section (and it appears I'm not alone), I'm not currently playing the game.

That's good to hear - especially on the sieges as I vastly prefer the Hungarian scenario.

Sadly perhaps, Gamersgate is now fast and easy: one click downloads and no cumbersome 'downloader' program to struggle with.

RE: Armor / Next Patch ??

<t> It's even easier not to have to bother... and there is no reason to have to bother for those games one can purchase elsewhere that don't require re-entering of a license number to patch. Making customers jump through unecessary hoops (even teensy little hoops) doesn't seem very sensible to me. I ...

RE: disbanded BGs

The current rules are for the ACTIVE UNITS ONLY

If this is true then there's no real pain though. If, as I assume, ACTIVE means 'units selected for that battle'.

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>I just can't understand why AGEod entrusted this project to a third-party developer and on a new engine instead of using AGE which is the most brilliant engine for this abstraction level with the skilled hands of Pocus and the newcomer Hok, who's already proven his worth on ...

RE: disbanded BGs

The current rules are for the ACTIVE UNITS ONLY

I see. So the benefit is entirely marginal. If it affected the entire BG there'd be some point to having the rule but as it stands, it's pretty futile.

RE: Armor / Next Patch ??

<t> What he's trying to say, I think, is that if you take 30d as a 'base' then what he says works. He's assuming that you are comparing all armour thickness at 30d as standard. If you see what I mean.<br/>
<br/>
In other words he knows that angle affects penetration and that 40mm at 30d is more ...

RE: disbanded BGs

<t> Quite. Some bugs are sadly inevitable. But it is quite staggering that something that's actually quite fundemental to gameplay should get through playtesting. Does it happen in other games? Yes. Is it acceptable? Well maybe to some people but I don't see why it should be. And some games just don ...

RE: disbanded BGs

Actually the point is fair enough. If the game doesn't do what it says in its own manual, it needs fixed pronto. And as this is a long-standing issue with the game it damn well should have been fixed pre-release.

RE: Worthy AI ?

<t> Well it does a fairly decent job as the CP, slightly less so as the Allies as it seems sluggish to commit the British. It's unlikely to make you fight much beyond '16 but it does vary its play and learns your strategies and adopts counter-measures in future games.<br/>

I think it is a ...

RE: Is this game in any way similar in style to FOF?

<t> The Hungarian revolt is much better than the '76 War of Ingratitude scenario and the AI isn't quite so feeble in it (or rather it is as feeble but the nature of the war suits it better).<br/>

Head to head, it's an intriguing scenario and well worth the outlay I'd say. If you can cope ...

I didn't play the tutorial for BoA either...

And yes, it provides just as much 'extra' as Arsan said in his above examples. And to be honest at £20 or so it's not actually that much pricier than many expansion packs...
