no doubt a common question many customers have when signing-up for the esri cool-aid. and really for our purposes, all of it can be done just on QGIS. you could even publish your tiles with a service and perhaps tweak a config files in the game and have it point to that instead of the OpenTopoMaps. ...

I use my free ArcGIS Online account to share one of their vector tile layers, something that would include some shaded relief. I'll edit the style to customize my version by adjusting colors of content in those tiles, use -"Edit in Vector Tile Style Editor". Then I go into the open source ...

I opened the sharing on this again for the map mods for WF EF RS ME VN as is so far.

The unit graphic mods for WF EF are there also, (those unit mods for VN and ME will get posted again eventually) Sound mods are there and some graphic alternate files as well.

For sure, next thing I want to do with tile generation is to generate them in a more intelligent way. Right now Im going down to zoom level 13 for the entire theater of the scenario. I've been creating my own map tiles for the look I want by combining Google Earth, Open Street Map, Esri etc. services into QGIS, then run the Generate XYZ Tiles tool which then generates the tiles that match those used in the game from Stamen Terrain, or OpenTopoMap. I store them locally by region ...

I've also wondered how detailed the ballistics are modeled in 3D. If full trajectory then you have to consider both altitude and range. Cant really give a single range number. More like top hemisphere of a spheroid.

yes I tried generated "night" the other day by running a python script using the pillow package. Dropped brightness to 50 and increased blue hue some. Don't know if I'll adjust some more. Its easy enough to change when I dip into the night scenarios. Could even adjust in a current game to ...
