RE: Multiplayer Matches

Sorry it took long to get back to you, we've had a talk with slitherine about it and it seems that there was a problem with the serial numbers - if that was the reason you couldn't access the lobby, then it should work now.

RE: Multiplayer Matches

<t> Doesn't really say a lot unfortunately, it's just the generic error message it gives when it doesn't have a more specific reason.<br/>
<br/>
I do have some thoughts on what might be causing it, but it won't be possible to do anything about it until Monday (the lobby system is operated by ...

RE: I took the plunge

We did try having a proper tutorial early in development of the game, but it proved to be too complex for what is basically a very simple game - there are very few rules and the tutorial always felt like overkill, so we decided to go with a simple page explaining the rules instead.

hotseat

<t> For those who have been asking on this forum about it - the new update adds hotseat play to Conquest.<br/>
<br/>
To start a hotseat game, simply select multiplayer -> hotseat from the menu. Setting up a hotseat game is very similar to any other type of game, and can have both human and AI ...

most likely cause of it is faulty RAM, then possibly device drivers (if you installed or updated anything recently, hardware or drivers, that's ...

<t> The game itself wouldn't be able to finish writing it's log file if there was a BSOD unfortunately. that being said, windows should have written a copy of the error to the event log (search for more information about it, it's a bit much to go into detail about it here).<br/>

RE: AI turn - slow that baby down

I agree with you - however we have to deal with the issues regarding the demo before we can do the update. also, doing an update too quickly could mean that bugs get missed.

RE: AI turn - slow that baby down

It's certainly possible to do - i think we'll probably be looking to add some way to control the speed of the AI turns in an update, rather than forcing it to be fast or slow - much better if we let people choose their speed.

RE: Anyone want to try Multi-player?

<t> Unfortunately, the internet used to be a simpler (and smaller) place - but these days routers are needed because so many people have home networks, and firewalls because of the constant threat of viruses/worms/trojans/whatever else they call the threats these days.<br/>

Even using a ...

Ack.. sorry we vanished, but we thought you had given it up for the night.

I know how much of a pain router setup can be, i've had my share of pain in that department.

If you want to try again, just let us know, and we'll try to do what we can.

RE: Anyone want to try Multi-player?

Only other thing i can think of is the windows firewall.. i always turn it off so i can't be sure, but i think it needs an exception adding for the game (or turning off entirely).

RE: Anyone want to try Multi-player?

Pretty sure - we tried sending you chat messages but it seemed like you couldn't see them, and i'm guessing you couldn't see the game i hosted either..

Long story short, you need port 2301 UDP to be open on your router and/or firewall for the lobby to work properly.

Scenario editor crashing (missing file)

<r> It seems that the scenario editor is missing from the currently available version of Conquest - this means that whenever you click on the button to start it, the game will crash instead saying that a file could not be found.<br/>

Since this is simply a case of a missing file, i have ...

RE: Neat little gem!

<t> One of the things we were determined about from the start was that the AI in this game would not cheat - all too often i've seen a cheating AI used to cover up for the fact that it simple cannot play the game (and worse than that, in many cases it simply doesn't tell you that the AI cheats).<br ...
