Re: Defence of the USSR

All you can do most likely is delay the fall of Stalingrad. And also maybe all you can delay is the fall of the Caucasus too. Make sure you build engineers early. Either on turn 1 (that means selling fighter technology and also disaband 1 fighter) and then save up 175 mpp for infantry weapons, or y...

Re: Research and Intelligence, updated complete guide and thoughts.

Okay thank you. So if I want to get a bonus for unmobilized USA but also hinder Axis research, then I should research S+I in both UK and USA.

Re: Research and Intelligence, updated complete guide and thoughts.

For #1, we made this change in version update 1.16.03: - Spying and Intelligence research bonus for a non mobilized Major, can no longer be affected in any way by a mobilized Major, i.e. Germany cannot decrease a pre war USSR bonus. Does this work vice versa? That is, do non-mobilized Majors count ...

Re: Sub Naval Cruise in Silent Mode

Given this has been around for years, is this really a bug? It could be a feature.

Might be totally unbalanced, or maybe cool in SC:WAW but broken in SC:WW1?

Re: Leader Question

It depends what your plans are. If you are doing a major attack, it does give an immediate slight boost. Experiment a bit and see how and when the attack predictor changes when you upgrade the commander. Generally I don't bother to promote if it only gives +1 skill. +2 is generally worth it unless n...

Re: Here‘s 420MPPs, little Hans

I could be wrong about artillery but in general I feel that while it isn't weak, it's inferior to just going for level 2 or 3 bombers. Artillery doesn't work well with a fast moving front and in a dense front it takes up space and gets in the way. It's not the same power level as in the SC-WW1 game ...

Re: Here‘s 420MPPs, little Hans

Huge topic. In general if I am low on money the priority is repairs+upgrades > tech/buybacks > buying new units and diplomacy. It doesn't seem overwhelming to me. It's one of the fun parts of the game! As Umeu mentioned, you get purchased units faster in winter because more months go by for fewer tu...

Re: Logic for invincible low strength units and retreats

What I don't understand is why some attacks NEVER fail to destroy/shatter an enemy unit. I have examples where no matter how many times I reload the hotseat, my army destroys the enemy HQ that is at 3 strength. It does not seem that the attack predictor "0 - 3" is literally the attack calc...

Re: Logic for invincible low strength units and retreats

As far as the low strength units seemingly having special survival powers, is that just the +1/-1 rule? When a unit has 1 strength, the attack indicator will never indicate that an attacker does more than 1 damage to it. Is this literally the expected attack damage value? I always assumed there is a...

Re: Logic for invincible low strength units and retreats

Frankly, I don't know when, but I'm guessing. Once a unit gets 1% Morale and 12% readiness, I believe the super defense kicks in where +1/-1 doesn't matter. Yeah I know ships will retreat and try to head to the nearest port. It seems land units retreat when they are <=5 strength (pretty sure I have...

Re: 1942 Scenario Optimal Turn 1

I am interested in this scenario. Are your comments made in regards to playing the AI or against humans? Because AI is stupid and useless. Do you think this might be a balanced scenario with two people playing against each other? Hi David thanks for your reply. My comments are with MP in mind. It's...

Logic for invincible low strength units and retreats

What exactly causes low strength unit (seems to be strength 1-2) or units which have received many attacks during the same turn, to gain a high chance of taking low or no damage? It seems that once a unit has taken a bunch of attacks, it becomes more resilient to further attacks which can be incredi...

Re: 1942 Scenario Optimal Turn 1

About the overall balance of the scenario, well it does seem dire for the Allies. The biggest problem is USSR which is dying. Good points for the Allies: It seems to me the Allies need to land somewhere ASAP. They start just about ready to create some LRAs and commit to a landing somewhere. Not sure...

1942 Scenario Optimal Turn 1

So I am a bit nuts and love to craft what I believe to be the optimal moves at the start of the game. The 1942 scenario has quite a bit going on and there's many opportunities for the axis to exploit the starting state. Has anyone else played around with this scenario or am I the only one? I've spen...

Re: Lend Lease Air Route to Russia?

In some of the other games I play, the Russian airfields in mid 1942 are suspiciously full not only of Yaks Migs and Laggs, but with a high proportion of Hurricanes, Warhawks, P-39s. They got thousands of fighters this way.

Lend Lease Air Route to Russia?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwest_Staging_Route
Is it possible to represent this in the game?
Simple way: a decision event where the USA can decide to pay MPP and then 6 months later the USSR gets a Fighter unit "Lend Lease Fighters" with full upgrade, in 1942?

Re: Targeting the guy with the stars

You want to be targeting a HQ that is actually a critical supplier of enemy troops. I think it works best when you're on the defensive. Whether you actually do a point of damage or not depends on things like entrenchment, your bomber's upgrade level, etc. Another similar trick is to damage an enemy ...
