I always thought it was odd the way the redid canon to put the Romulans and the Klingons in the beta quartent.

I figured as much given how dealing with races works in the vanilla game. I have to say love the mod. I have been wanting a 4x Star Trek game every since I played Birth of the Federation many years ago.

I have to agree even if it was slow I wish you could improve the quality of colonies. I have had several games where ruins like the fortress of turak is on a low quality world.

I find it best to keep taxes at zero till a planet is maxed out.

The expansion planner is hugely important if you are shortages its best to check it out as it will tell you how many of each resource you have currently as well as where sources can be found.

Pirates are actually quite useful both to improve your reputation so other empires like you, to use to attack your enemies, and running smuggling missions for certain resources.

yeah unless you want to roleplay them, I would suggest not enslaving any other races till you are close to victory as enslavement causes population growth to be zero.

A mission like patrol I am pretty sure will be maintained until you give it another order like to refit. Automating it will cause it to be given other orders.

I highly recommend the extended mod for extra races. I don't totally agree with the idea of the OP as the issue of balances that come into play with those types of bonuses.
