RE: Average time to complete your turn?

<t> I'm on my 4th game (but still haven't gone past April 42 in any of them). Generally, I spend about 1-1.5 hours per turn, but once a month I check all the HQ support, the air units, the commanders, and so on. Those turns take 4 hours or so.<br/>

RE: Air Groups with Zero planes

<t> It's hard for me to gainsay those with more experience, but I don't put the planes in reserve. Instead, I pull them well back (beyond likely recon) in the middle, but leave them close to the Finns and the Rumanians. Then I bomb the hell out of them. Seems to work to increase experience, but ...

Functional Improvements for Future Versions

<t> As I learn to play this monster, I've found some "missing items." It's entirely possible they are present and I just haven't found them. Most of these fall into the category of making the player experience more positive. There are no suggestions involving unit ratings, etc. It's also possible ...

Loki, what was your level of difficulty? I'm thinking about posting my results, but wanted to see what level most of you all were playing on first.

RE: Building New Airbases

<t> Thanks guys! My screen does not look like yours, Loki. My builds list stops at HQ Combined Arms Army. My current game lists 1.08.01 at the top of the screen, even though I downloaded and installed 1.08.02. Still, my understanding was that the Air Builds feature was part of the 01 build, so it ...

Building New Airbases

<t> As I understand it, we are supposed to be able to build air groups and air bases as the Soviet player starting in August 41. No further requirements are listed. I'm in February 42 and when I hit Shft-B on a light urban hex nothing about air bases or groups shows up. I can build other land units ...

RE: Soviet Rail Capacity (Or finding the balance)

<t> I'm a new player having played several scenarios, one game vs AI as the Germans on standard difficulty, and currently a game as the Soviet vs AI on Challenging. I mention the level of difficulties because I pulled out the factories at Tula, Kharkov, D-petrovsk and Zap. without any need to (as ...

RE: Airborne Ops

<t> For those that may be interested in this, here are the steps that were revised in 1.06:<br/>
1) go to Air Transport mode<br/>
2) left click on the hex containing the airbase and airborne unit(s)<br/>
3) verify the units to be dropped are selected<br/>
4) shift-left click on a hex near the ...

You are correct, sir! Changed quite a bit. Apparently this is in the updated manual, which I thought I was reading. I'll try it tomorrow.

RE: Airborne Ops

<t> The total "load" of all elements of my brigade is 1944. Even one of the Li-2 units carries a load of 119,106 (18 planes), so if I'm following you correctly, this should be more than enough. There is a "mystery" stat on the brigade called "Transport Cost." Its value is 404, and I assume that has ...

RE: Airborne Ops

<t> very helpful, thanks. One of the two available brigades has 51 or better exp for each of its elements (overall 55 according to Comm. Screen). <br/>

Can't tell about the adjacent hex trick but a total of 36 Li-2 may not be enough for a unit with 2,648 men (which is the best non-partisan ...

Airborne Ops

<t> In 1.08.02 I am trying to airdrop a Soviet Airborne unit. It is located in a hex with an active air base that is in supply on a railline. There are two transport units of 18 Li-2 each. The para brigade is Ready and is stacked in the same hex.<br/>

OK, I could combine 3 cav into a corps in January 42. I just had to put them all in the same Army first. That's not mentioned in the manual.

RE: Corps Dates

<t> The dates in the manual are no longer correct (at least some of them) if playing 1.08.02. The trouble is that there have been several changes, but they're not all in one spot. For example, the cav can't be built into a corps in December or January 42 for that matter.<br/>

Corps Dates

With all the changes I can't tell when the Soviets can build up the various corps. Can someone kindly supply the dates?

Also, is there an AP cost to build the corps?

Thanks!

Mud in July?

<t> I'm playing the Soviets vs the AI using 1.08.01 beta at the Challenging level (this is my second campaign game). I just began the 7-24-41 turn. There's MUD in the Central Soviet Zone. All other zones are clear.<br/>

Helpful to know. Is there a Soviet morale penalty when either or both of those cities fall?
