Re: RAD functionality described in manual for ports seemingly bugged

From this save, the Romanian FBD can NOT repair Genichesk port. However, it can repair Yevpatoriya. So it seems it does at least work in some cases for FBDs, though not for others. But from what the manual indicates, it ought to work for all ports, and more importantly also should work for RADs. It...

Re: Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

gasteris shared his Soviet leader deaths as of early 1944 from the game vs et (earlier goodbyebluesky). There are 39 deaths: gasterissovietdeaths.png This is somewhat the exception, normally Soviet leader deaths will likely be lower than this. The reason for the high deaths is that this was the rela...

Re: Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

Here are some historical statistics for comparison on Axis leader deaths: https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=135564 https://forum.axishistory.com/download/file.php?id=146492&sid=cc5d86ef26ac6d581583033ed4f611e5 Most general deaths were division level commanders. Those are not in the g...

Re: Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

All of the above has been mostly about leader deaths from HQ displacement. However, in addition to that, the purely RNG deaths, or "heart attacks" that occur in the logistics phase are also too high. As one example, in a game I have been playing as Axis, this happened as early as on turn 5...

Re: Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

Meanwhile the situation is often (but not always, depending again on player skill and tactics) totally different on the Soviet side. Here are Soviet leader deaths on turn 102 of the David-Caedus game: sovietdeaths.png You can see these are obviously way lower, and are mostly made up of the deaths th...

Re: Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

You may be wondering how this sort of thing happens, and why this is so different from what presumably happens in single player games or AI vs AI games. I think the reason is probably that a human player is much better at doing a large scale coordinated offensive with deep thrusts (which displace lo...

Leader deaths much too high in PvP grand campaign games

Multiple grand campaign games which have lasted until 1943+ show that leader deaths are too high. I will post this in multiple posts due to screenshot limits etc. I will post from two example games from which I have gotten players to share the leader deaths with me (both of which have at least short...

Re: Beethoven (Axis) vs Bobo (Soviets), 1941 GC

I was going to post screenshots, but unfortunately I forgot to take a screenshot of the map without units. So it will have to wait until I can post a screenshot with units. In any case, we did do something in the south quite similar to that previous screenshot from the other game. The difference is,...

Re: Beethoven (Axis) vs Bobo (Soviets), 1941 GC

OKH staff made the following maps to aid in planning for the south. The first map shows our calculation of the MP cost of moving mobile regiments to various hexes (starting from territory we already control). This is assuming that there is no combat delay or anything unexpected (i.e. units not spott...

Re: Ground Attack Directives vs Supply Depots

For strategic bombing in general, you have to run strategic recon air missions in order to get the intelligence estimate of damage to update. Otherwise your intelligence estimate will tend to stay at 100% damaged forever, and so then it will never run bombing missions because it assumes that everyth...

Re: The Sky’s the Limit- PBEM GC 41 jubjub (Axis) vs. M60A3TTS (Soviet)

Difficult to make a lot of progress against a well entrenched jubjub. Rows of level 3 forts hard to overcome without a lot of casualties. If you are having a problem attacking in winter, my guess from the screenshots is it may be related to the fact that you seem to be keeping a continuous front li...

Re: Berlin falls 1943 in a a no early end 1941 Grand Campaign

Good game and good analysis. A lot more games would turn out like this, the main difference is that usually the Axis player surrenders at some point from winter 41 until 43 when the situation gets too obviously overwhelmingly hopeless. I think more Axis players would probably stick it out if it were...

Partisans in Soviet Union while front line is in Berlin

If you look in the CaedusS vs. Robi151 server game, Soviets are about to take Berlin in 1943, and Romania etc has fallen, but there are still events firing for partisans around Orel etc. So there should probably be a check that those areas actually be under German control in order for there to be pa...

Re: Produced tanks go into transit pool instead of active

This problem still seems to exist and to need a fix. In Caedus vs David game (with OB 2.0 new patch) which has made it to 1943, Soviets have thousands of medium tanks stuck in the transit pool.

Re: Beethoven (Axis) vs Bobo (Soviets), 1941 GC

I will show the Axis view post recon in 2 important areas. First, in the north around Pskov: postrecon1.PNG In this area, Bobo has clearly done about as good of a job as possible of putting up a hasty defense on the Velikaya river. He has got 3 counters in Pskov (one of which is the fort that starts...

Axis Turn 2 I thought I had some screenshots of what Axis turn 2 looked like prior to recon that I was going to post, but apparently I don't or can't find them. There is sometimes a decent amount you can tell even pre-recon. However, I will show 2 things that I could see even pre-recon which were n...

Re: Quick Questions Thread

I'm learning the air war and setting up my own missions. However, my bombers keep flying un escorted even though there are plenty of fighters nearby in the same Air Command (NorthWest to be precise). My settings are the default. Are there better settings I can use, or should I just not let the AI p...

Re: LARGE number of RADs not deploying

The difference is in the server game, you do not have a contiguous rail line (even counting those that are damaged) in your control that goes from Riga (or pre-invasion German territory) to Daugvapils, while in the other games you do. There are hexes in the server game that are Soviet controlled th...
