Re: Thesis: The rate of consumption of goods is too high for freight travel time in most game galaxy scenarios.
I've created a tool after some extensive discussion on this topic. It considers an idealised scenario where you have 1 colony with a given population, and given number of requested lux resources. Using real world data, it assumes an average cargo holding/throughput per trip, and determines the ...

Re: Thesis: The rate of consumption of goods is too high for freight travel time in most game galaxy scenarios.
If you really want to understand what is going on, you can't just make the assumption the issue is from travel time, without checking these other issues

Re: Thesis: The rate of consumption of goods is too high for freight travel time in most game galaxy scenarios.
Is this even a problem? Some colonies are going to have more reliable supply of specific luxury resources over others just for the fact of their location. Is it reasonable to expect close to perfect equal resource distribution throughout an entire galaxy? Probably also makes colonising marginal ...

I mathed it out in of my posts below. Pretty convinced at this point.
Thesis:
The rate of consumption of goods is too high in most game galaxy scenarios. As the number of colonies increase, your logistics needs quickly exceeds the abilities of freighters at most tech levels to make the required ...

Much to my disbelief. The prime real estate north has rebelled. The Haaks, locked in a war with Morts developed so much war weariness that this colony has overthrown their ruler.

Re: I'm Blue. An Ackdarian Republic harsh, very hard AAR.
You are a braver (and no doubt better) player than me. The settings you chose were tough enough, but having no Caslon in your home system is rubbing salt in the wound.
Thanks! I think that with DWU/2 you really need to enjoy these sorts of positions from a story point of view. Otherwise the ...

So it's about time I unveil my strategy to survive this brutal start. Frankly, there is no hope that I can attempt to compete with the AI at this point. My strategy will focus solely on economic growth technologies such as colonization and passenger compartment sizes while keeping relations with ...

Re: I'm Blue. An Ackdarian Republic harsh, very hard AAR.
Sadly, the two systems initially targeted did not provide the required source of Caslon. Things are beginning to look dire for our poor ackdarians. No caslon is literally a non starter.. and I don't believe I've seen a source of silicon either yet. Time will tell if I can pull through....

Having played a few games with a variety of settings to victory I wanted a real challenge and a lengthy game. I also figured these initial conditions would force me to engage in aspects of the game I had otherwise brute forced previously.

Re: Economy Calculator and Guide to max population, revenue, support costs, and corruption
This is a remarkable job of reverse engineering, testing and analysis, OloroMemez.
I see what you were talking about now and it's clear that especially with regard to Difficulty, we didn't factor in the effect of the additional corruption on high end colonies. We tightened up the economy a bit ...

Re: Economy Calculator and Guide to max population, revenue, support costs, and corruption
Thanks - really helpful! Definitely needs adjusting though - the high population drop-off of income on higher difficulty looks ridiculous, and is not made clear anywhere in-game, and the game gives you essentially no tools for dealing with it - other than committing periodic genocides against your ...

Re: Post your DW2 PC resource utilization
I found your problem. I have a 6900 XT and I got a similar problem.
The minimum frequency (clock speed) is the reason why you got a bad FPS. You are running at 500 mhz.
Just use the advanced mode in the Radeon and move the minimum to 100 mhz less then the maximum and bingo you will get an ...
