Re: Ship design woes

I am playing with the thought, if Armor Components could be removed as a Equipment Bay and had to be made as a basic decission for the hull. Then I am thinking about how I still want to decide how thick the armor should be and I am looping around to it still should be a Component. Any thoughts ? Ha...

Re: Ship design woes

Uhm, that is what I just said, in DW1 we had Auto Upgrade and Manual Upgrade, both auto created a new design and mark the old one obsolete. In DW2 if you haven't noticed we lost the manual upgrade. Leading to having to do the click click click click click click click stuff to get the same effect. I...

Re: Ship design woes

And when someone says things like that, the only thing one can ask is "When does your Game come to Market?" Because it will surely be a Best Seller... :( Give it a few tears, it'll be great Just to clarify. Is it "your Tears" you speak of, or the supposed "Tears of others&q...

Re: Ship design woes

I don't get this, why are hardpoints considered such an apparently unforgivable design sin? It seems like a similar design principle to having equipment slots in an RPG or a selection of weapons to collect and cycle through in an FPS. I'm not saying just because it is trope it must be good, but I d...

Re: Ship design woes

This is a complete cop out with a few nice buzzwords. Hard points are bad, lazy design that only frustrates players. And when someone says things like that, the only thing one can ask is "When does your Game come to Market?" Because it will surely be a Best Seller... :( Give it a few year...

Re: Regarding Fuel Tankers

That sometimes you are smarter than the automation and need to tell your minions what to do Yeah. This is exactly what I did. But after doing it for 5 or 6 ships, i basically said stuff it. Fuel tankers are a bit broken rn, but unfortunately so is a lot of the game on certain systems, so I don't th...

Re: Ship design woes

The problem in my opinion with your reasoning is that we mostly can't use all the slots anyway, so the slots we can use is just the max slots of that type for that hull. You can't say that you want more internal space as there are no more internal space in the hull if you filled the slots. The engi...

Re: Ship design woes

I think we understood us perfectly. Thats the way I handle my Ship Designs as well. I think you set your Design and Retrofit Automation as good as possible. The funny thing is, with the different possible Hull Types ( Fast Destroyer, Fleet Destroyer ) allready in the game, it should have been obvio...

Re: Ship design woes

I sort of agree, but from a more story focused perspective, I want to be able to remove an extra fuel cell and armor in order to squeeze one more component into the ship. I don't like the limitation of certain types of parts because it feels unnecessary, does removing internal components not give s...

Re: Ship design woes

@Jorgen_Cab. While everything you said is true, you missed the point. The only value I gained from you was why ships cost maintenance. The argument at the moment is that we are only allowed to choose between 1Jet with Flaps, 2Jet without flaps, and VTOL While what we actually want is a Space Shuttl...

Re: Ship design woes

Perfect example of my somewhat distaste for the new design method: And maybe there's a way to get around this, I'm unsure. I made 20 frigates to attack a pirate base. A fairly long way away, but doable with frigates with two fuel cells. I attacked and almost took it out. So.... I have ship design o...

Re: Cheese - Repairing ship for technology

I think that you should have a bit more in the way of restrictions, like maybe [*]a tech level high enough to begin repairing, even if the disparity is still quite large (also means you can have greater variation in how high the tech level of some of these ships is) [*]when repaired not all systems...

better yet, add a bunch of the options you get from the right click menu there, and make the icons smaller. many people didn't know that menu existed for the longest time

No, Interceptors are the Anti-Missiles.

We need Anti-Interceptor-Missiles. Or Anti-Anti-Missile-Missiles.

Re: On Fleet cohesion

I agree, but then all you really need for your logical decision are ship statuses, rather than a percentage. With a percentage rule, you might end up with a perfectly functional fleet gathered at 74.9% that will also wait indefinitely instead of jumping. The percentage would then come in to decide ...

Re: Poll: Are the Changes to Ship design good?

Also just a reminder, that only 16% of all people voting here want a different approach. I am sorry, but if such a small minority wants something, the path is clear: Mod the game to be as you want it. At worst you got things how you want them to be. At best, you now can show us why your approach is...

Re: Poll: Are the Changes to Ship design good?

So I think change is a good thing, and healthy for a game, especially when this one wouldn't negatively impact those that DO already like it How would changing the game mechanics not negatively impact those that prefer them? They'll just pretend they are still constrained? We get it - you want it a...
