Re: Things I'd like to see in a sequel series

Another thing I'd love to see going forward is more differentiation between units of same type across different nations . Right now, if I understand it correctly, only tech level and xp factor in this. But historically different nations' units had different competency degrees due to different doctri...

Re: Things I'd like to see in a sequel series

Thinking again, some of my suggestions above could be solved by having a general "overlay" feature, filterable by various functions. Eg:

- Aerial interception/coverage overlay,

- Unit strenght overlay,

- Trench level overlay,

- Artillery coverage overlay,

- HQ coverage overlay,

etc.

Re: Things I'd like to see in a sequel series

Nice post! I agree with all points so far. My 2 cents, mostly related to UI.. Give us separate counter options for Zoom levels 1 and 2. So we could choose 3D counters for zoom1 and NATO for zoom2 (or vice-versa). I for eg, love the 3D counters but on zoom2 they are very hard to distinguish, and so I...

Re: Suggestions for usability

6) Automate HQs and their respective corps/divisions. Similar to what Nobunaga's Ambition series does, where you can automate generals into an autonomous force and give it strategic targets (cities) and/or behavior settings (defensive, balanced, aggressive, etc).

Suggestions for usability

Hi! Here goes some suggestions based on my 40h or so with the game so far (having a blast!). This is based mostly on the Ludendorf Offensive scenario, and a very quick, en passant play of the 1914 one: 1) Give us separate counter options for Zoom levels 1 and 2. So we could choose 3D counters for zo...

Re: Experiences playing 1918 Ludendorff Offensive?

Is cavalry worth using as Central powers? I'm novice in the game and this is my first scenario. At first I thought cav wouldn't make much sense this being 1918 and all that, but now that I'm starting to break the french frontlines I'm reconsidering. Maybe it would be good having a couple cavs spread...

Re: Stormtroopers represented?

Little tangent to show the unused shock troop icons in BlueMax mod folders, which I found pretty neat. I grouped these together as a sample, they're German's sturmtruppen, A-H's jagdkommandos, Italian arditi and British's Anzacs/Canadians, and their NATO symbol. There are equivalents to each power i...

Re: How to deal with tanks?

So it seems artillery is actually pretty good against them, as they them/inflict damage directly. Also, well prepped infantry (supplied + trenched + hi morale) also makes them sweat.

I didn't try ground attack planes but I suspect it could be useful too.

I'm still new to the game and this will be very useful to understand it and to see how Icarus fares. Thank you folks.

Re: Boroevic a rating 3 general?

Interesting to see how Ageod depicted him (as above average). That matches the most popular and easily accessible online sources, like wikipedia for eg. Thanks @nikel . I decided to make him an average general (rating 4 or 5) on my side. Seems the most coherent, seeing as he showed a mix of both med...

Re: Boroevic a rating 4 general?

Thanks for the explanation, Bill.

Given his feats in holding the Italians on the Isonzo front, though, I'd make him at least an average general (say, rating 5), at least in the 1917 starting date.

I suppose I could edit it on my side? (sorry if the answer is obvious, I'm new to the game).

Boroevic a rating 3 general?

I have this Boroevic Austrian-Hungarian HQ at the Isonzo front in the 1917 starting date, but he is only a 4 rating general. I mean, Is this right? Wasn't this guy considered the best A-H general at the war? How come his gereral rating is so low? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svetozar_Boroev...

How to deal with tanks?

I'm playing the Ludendorf scenario as Germany and UK began sending tanks. They feel pretty OP and I'm scared. Any tips? I deployed a tank of my own but it's far away from UK's. Also, while I'm here: any general tips for this scenario? I'm not sure but I think I have to decide at the beginning if I w...

Re: Stormtroopers represented?

Thanks Michael, I'll check it out. Something interesting I've found: the BlueMax mod has ready-made, unused stormtrooper/shock troop counters in it's asset files. These have red nato icons and are available for all nations in appropriate form (eg: the Italian ones have Arditi/Farina armor). Neat lit...

Re: Experiences playing 1918 Ludendorff Offensive?

Any overall tips? I'm playing it right now as Germans while learning the game. For example... 1 - should I concentrate troops/deployments between Soisson and Reims to try and get to Paris ASAP, or should I take the whole frontline with the other cities to drain their National Morale? 2 - should I pu...

Re: Stormtroopers represented?

Yes, the new tech in the Icarus mod will increase Germany's ability to build stormtroopers at 2 units per increment. They start at zero and can reach a maximum of 8 when they get to level 4. One of the advantages of this approach is that it avoids designating a fixed date by which stormtroopers are...

Re: Stormtroopers represented?

@mdmsmall, I don't have enough experience to judge your points, but they seem coherent to me. About your new tech: would it make new units of stormtroopers available? See, my problem with that approach (making whole stormtroopers units) is that the game is based on a corps scale, not battalion or di...

Re: Beginner questions, turn length, watch AI moves

More questions: - it's better to reinforce units ASAP right? I see there's a loss in XP when they're reinforced, and If it's proportional to the strength being refilled then maybe it's better to reinforce ASAP as to avoid significant XP loss. Makes sense? - should I leave my HQs right behind my troo...

Re: Stormtroopers represented in the game?

Hi - The absence of German stormtrooper units is a noticeable gap in the game. To the extent that they are there, they would be represented by German corps which have gained one, two or even three experience points and a comparable level of elite reinforcements. But any corps in any army can gain t...

Stormtroopers represented?

Hi! I just got the game and Im having a blast but something is not clear to me: how are shock troops depicted in the game? I see some distinct units like ANZACs and Mountain corps but can't find shock troops units like Italian Arditi, German stormtroopers, A-H jagdkommandos, etc. I noticed in the Lu...
