Downloaded the beta patch a couple hours ago with no problems... However there were two downloads available, the patch and a 250+ MB "press copy" of Hired Guns (?)

I have taking a look... and HG is definitely moddable.

For instance, most of the data for items in the game is nicely stored in MSXML Excel Spreadsheets, or the scripts they use to compose the game UI are there as well, in plain text.

I've just finished downloading it from the EU store, and I am finding inside the ZIP a 2.4GB exe file with date of 20th Nov 2008.

And there is an example of this 'logicist' approach applied to wargames. Even delivered through Matrixgames: Campaigns on the Danube.

A friend of mine owns it and always is commenting on its AI outstanding 'situational awareness'.
