A hypothetical M2a4 equipped US force vs. german Panzers in 1939-40 would be interesting imho. Perhaps something to wargame through a scion of the SP family?

That might not be a bad idea, Rune....the @a$ was embarassingly(as far as the axis is concerned) Good against the japanese....then again let's not quibble I have touched a Type-97 not exactly a stout rig no?

The Germans would have to rely on their Czech Kit to stop it IMHO, if used as a channeling force it may well have even allowe the cruisers to matter....

that is an odd and interesting hypo....

of course so is Fwance v Japan in 1941 without the Fwench headcase happening....

interesting jungle battles in Indochina as it were....

Thats an FT!!!!! WWI Dude!!!!!!!!!![:-]

I know, but I get a kick out of these funny little things, and like a lot of obsolete tanks it still got used in WW2. (Unlike the MkIV/V I posted above.)

What do you see in the picture? (help it is a prototype)

Hungarian Turan prototype (3 perhaps). The angling of the hull and suspension are dead giveaways [8D]

*EDIT*

Not a Turan. It´s the TAS prototype vehicle. Still hungarian though.

Yep it is.

Next time I'll try something more challanging.

Is it a Romanian R-1 light tank? They were basically a export version Czech CKD AH-IV tank with less armour, a smaller engine, and the commander cupola removed.

being an old tanker, I'd like to see more pics of tanks in action or in the field, with the crews going about their work.
Similiar to rune's pic in post 704, page 24 or sven's a few posts up.
See the mud in the tracks, or the grass in the sprokets? I always loved that smell.
They seem more interesting then tanks sitting on display or in the motorpark.

That monster is a Char 2c tank. Otherwise known as a FCM2C. Almost 70 tons, and really cool as a concept! Just like the Brit "Land Battleship" Independent tank, and the Russian T-35.

In reality their only useful purpose was as a subject of German propaganda photos [:(]

That Soviet tank with all the rounded-off edges is an example of what happens when the Russians listen to German engineers! The T-22 "Grote" tank ... ![&:]

The Soviets were capable of some silly designs on their own, though... What with their various land battleships and the KV-2...

I do love the looks of the T-22! A concept well ahead of it's times. I woud guess that Flash Gordon himself would have felt at home crewing that vehicle!

Apparently Edward Grote, the designer of that tank, left Soviet Russia after the vehicle was cancelled in 1933. He then went to Renault in France and worked on some tank designs for them. When war broke out in Europe, he left for America and was said to have lent his particular expertise in cast turret design in the development of the Lee and Sherman tanks. [8D]
