Operational level Sci Fi Game?

Post by matteo_72 »

Hi all, it is years I am hoping to see a good Sci Fi operational level planet invasion wargame on PC: I have some very nice boardgames depicting it (FASA Battleforce 2, FASA Prefect, GDW Invasion Earth), but nothing on PC.

I was wondering.... what do you think regarding Matrix Games publishing a "TOAW 4 Sci Fi" with equipment editor included?? I would really love it, personally!

Thanks for your comments
bye

Sorry, may be I have broken the forum rules, and if so I am very sorry. No I am not a spambot or anything, just writing sincerely. I really would love to have a similar game installed on my pc to play alone, hotseat, online and so on! Thanks and ciao, Matteo

You haven't broken any rules, matteo. This board just seems subject to heavy attack from spambots at present, and folks are suspicious of anyone new. Maybe paranoia, but as I think everybody has been taken in at least once (including me), it's justified paranoia!

I can't think of a game for PC like you describe. I doubt there would ever be 'TOAW 4 Sci-fi', though. The market simply isn't there. If you don't mind putting the work in yourself you could probably use Advanced Tactics for your own scenarios. The engine was designed to be, and is, very flexible and could certainly handle sci-fi as well as anything else.

Thanks a lot Hertston! Did not notice Advanced Tactics; do you know if there is also an editor for the troop images and counters? It seems really nice. Thanks for your kind reply

This one is tactical but it can be sci-fi and it's free

My apologies. We've just been hit with spam so much I get paranoid everytime I see a new face. Welcome to the forums and glad to have you on board!

Matteo: The images and counter graphics can easily be edited and there are iirc a space scenario or two in the scenario repository. The AT subforum is very friendly, and you will quickly get any questions clarified over there.

Also: Welcome, and we are very pleased you are a real gamer and no spambot ;-)

Widell, what does that sign say in your avatar? I've wondered that for years.

It's Swedish and says "Do not enter the ice while the ice machine (Zamboni?) is running"
