HPS sims Marching Eagles Austerlitz

Post by rommel222 »

Greetings to All,
Visited the HPS sims website after a year and found a 3rd title in the Napoleonic Marching Eagles series: Austerlitz.

https://www.hpssims.com/Pages/Products/ ... erlitz.asp

I am thinking of trying it out. Anyone have experience with it? I have not tried Waterloo or Marengo

Found a you tube video review:

Not with that version, but have Waterloo. Unfortuanely for me never played much because the screen and user interface doesn’t scale well using large monitors. Things were small and things like the cards did not line up well at default. Although you could move the cards, you had to do every time starting the game. You could change your screen resolution before starting the game to help with the issues but too much of a pain for me to do that every time. From a game standpoint, looked interesting for me to buy, but can’t get past this issue although others may be fine with it.

Even if you don't buy the game through steam, you can still play games bought elsewhere using the steam client. Basically just becomes a launcher through it, really doesn't take advantage of anything.

Greetings Grim.Reaper,
Thanks for your observations on the Austerlitz game play & problems you find with it.
I own all of the game designer Paul Bruffell's Ancient Warfare series (Roman Wars, Greek Wars, etc) and know the clunky UI.

I might try it since I like the Austerlitz battle. I have JTS Austerliz Campaign game, Breakaway games Napoleon's Greatest Victory and Histwar Austerlitz & Les Grognards.

Hard to believe that Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory is near on 20 years old as evidenced in the below article. What I liked about this game was that the player in SP could switch sides any time during a battle..

and one flew over the Cuckoos nest

Greetings operating,
Being able to switch sides midstream was a great feature.

There were many mods for additional different battles.
My favorites were Battle of Borodino, Eylau & Peninsular battles:

Thanks for this info [&o] I was going to treat myself to one game from that series for Christmas; I won't now. [:-]

Will there be any more new installments in the Marching Eagles series?
Personally, I hope for battle of Eylau.
