best Pacific AI ?

Post by hyperstork67 »

In your opinion, which game has the best AI to play against in a Pacific campaign, especially with naval units and invading/liberating islands? I wanted to play as Japan vs Allied AI, but am looking for a game that has the enemy act similar to real life, like with their navy spreading out and troops island hopping.
I have WitP:AE, am looking for something a little less deep with all the units to manage.

Ones I have tried so far: the Strategic Command series. Also iIhave the Classic Pacific version, but haven't gotten far as the UI seems to be fighting me every step of the way. Should I stick with it? Are the newer versions better with AI decisions of the USA?

Matrix games like Warplan Pacific, or something else? Something like War in the Sea or other non-Matrix? I liked the map in Victory at Sea:Pacific, but submarines are useless as the enemy always knows exactly where they are. I was thinking of playing something with Fog of War OFF for the first playthrough to check how the AI handles their navy.
Thoughts?

I suppose War Plan Pacific might be a good bet. However, it is a bit difficult to learn. The sparse manual seems to leave a lot to be desired. It's also one of those Pacific campaign games where you have to pay a good deal of attention to the land war in China, unless you just concentrate on one of the smaller scenarios.

Does the Warplan Pacific AI use their naval assets well? Spread out fleets to hit multiple zones?

It does have submarines. 1920s vintage submarines, but still submarines.

That's very cool! Does the game give battle animations or reports on sub and ship combat like WitP?

Sure looks like it. Although seeing the Lexington and Saratoga as the battlecruisers they were originally meant to be is a bit of a switch.

I observe how American Wargaming taking other casulties light in WW1. Sarıkamış and Çanakkale should not be a serious battle then..

For AI Strategic Command World at War could be the best in overall Pasific Campaign.
