How does this game compare with Tiller’s Strategic War games?

Never played JTS Strategic war, but that's an interesting question.

Game scale with 10km per hex appears to be close:

However, game turns are 2 days.

Are the manual and designer notes available for download somewhere?

Has the game been reviewed somewhere?

The game mechanics feel right for smaller to medium-sized scenarios like Denmark, Rostov, Leningrad, Crete...

Denmark 1940 is an a-historical scenario built to learn the system. The German player has to actually conquer Denmark using his forces - no walkover here. He is presented with a small number of units that comprise panzer and mechanized division, air and naval forces, paratroops, and transports for landing operations.

It is a nice, almost sandbox, scenario that you can play and replay until you feel you have mastered all the aspects of the game - idiosyncrasies included (just an example: you are not forced to use paratroops and air transport units to "win" in your first game: you can use them in a successive run, when you feel you have grasped the most basic aspects of the UI and the game rules).
"Yes darling, I served in the Navy for eight years. I was a cook..."
"Oh dad... so you were a God-damned cook?"

Ron has updated WWIIE to version 1.0.13.

From the release notes:

Version 1.0.13 Readme File
1. Campaign scenarios 81 and 88 have been added. The totals now are 94 complete out of a planned 101. (93%)
2. Remaining scenarios to be built are 1, 26, 33, 95, 98, 100 and 101.
3. Next one to build is in progress, and that is scenario 26.
4. Note that Help files (both htm and Word formats) are included in this release.

All the scenarios in item 2 are mega or large campaign games.

I put together all the release notes as best as I could in a PDF here:

http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/ ... 740.0.html

I also downloaded a PDF version of the manual (its updated to version 1.0.12) but good enough. From the DOW site.

I have also fallen in love with this system again and actually forced myself past the UI and the slight scrolling issue (I found a way to get around it, use the arrow keys and use different zoom levels).

I am also modding the map.

Good clean fun.
