Thanks to Argilas over in the main Close Combat Matrix Forum (HERE) for posting this -- I've chosen to keep the tone of his post (apologies if I seem like stealing the post).

After 20~ years, the webmaster behind closecombatseries.net is hanging up the torch. He has elected to not renew the domain name, and it expires:

August 10, 2024 at 17:20:56 UTC

Anyone interested in mods, maps, tools and miscellaneous CC stuff can download a complete copy (up until 10 August when the website dies:

http://www.closecombatseries.net/downloads/

More specifically this file:

http://www.closecombatseries.net/downlo ... 024.tar.gz

BIG WARNING -- it is a 90~ GB file containing all Close Combat Mods that were hosted on CC.NET
CC_Stuff.png
CC_Stuff.png (8.89 KiB) Viewed 545 times
SECOND BIG WARNING -- It's double compressed; so you will need 270+ GB of space to extract everything.

The file has already been rehosted onto Google Drive:

Close Combat Series Mods - Google Drive
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... drive_link

This folder contains the mods, custom maps, custom tools and miscellaneous files that were previously made available through the closecombatseries.net website. The purpose is to retain the Close Combat modding legacy and keep the creations of the modding community available for anyone interested.

Also, per Argilas, you can also visit the discord group(s) dedicated to Close Combat through these links:

Thanks Ryan for stepping up to the plate and doing all this for us.

Also, appreciate your warning on the large file. I'm nursing a 10-year-old Dell - they never die, in my experience - but woefully short on the graphics card and even space with two SSD's attached.

Again, thanks and best wishes,

Mike

Recently, JapLance on Subsim.com posted a 2~ MB file of 300+ scenarios he had saved for the original Silent Hunter I; which enabled me to raise the "Recovered" amount of Wargamer Scenario Depot Files for Silent Hunter I from 3 (23%) to 11 (84%).

Silent Hunter I Archive on Internet Archive

If you're just interested in JapLance's file; you can download it directly at this link:

let's go down memory lane 8-) Since 2000, I’ve played so many games that I probably don’t even remember half of them, but let’s try.

I started with Heroes III a classic, obviously.
then Age of Empires II, spending hours building an empire... later I got hooked on Rome Total War, and shortly after, Half-Life 2 was a revelation. In 2007 I think, was Crysis , then Mass Effect proved that you can have better relationships with virtual characters than with some real people

then came the classic just one more turn addiction with Civ V, and in recent years, it’s been mostly strategy, RPGs, and retro throwbacks, because if you grew up on old-school games, it’s hard to embrace today’s microtransaction and battle pass festivals

Thank you, Ranger.
