"The Perfect General" game designed by Mark Baldwin and published in 1991 by Quantum Quality Productions (QQP). A refurbished version of the original is available for Windows since 2003, web site: http://killerbeesoftware.com/
I own and played the DOS version, it was great little game back in the early 90's, I haven't played the 2003 Windows version, has anyone played it or own it?

Patrick

Yeah I played it but lost my download (and code) in a PC crash. I am seriously considering ordering it again.

Was a very fun game, and one I'd love to see revamped to modern standards.

Richard, I'm thinking about getting the 2003 Windows version, did you play it in Win 7? Any problems playing it in Win 7? Thanks!

Patrick

I played it under Win-XP, so cannot help, sorry.

Have you tried Scourge of War?
Civil War Generals (These would need to be fixed up for use on Windows 7)
Civil War Generals 2 ((These would need to be fixed up for use on Windows 7)

Forge of Freedom and the upcoming Brother against Brother may be of interest.

Yes and yes but these games are still different and, on some aspects, they are still unmatched.

Ohhhh and EAGLES a WWI flight combat model unlike these sims we have today this game was really a strategy game.

Any and all of the World at War Series from Avalon Hill:

Operation Crusader

Image[/img]

D-Day America Invades

Image[/img]

And Stalingrad.

Image[/img]

I already have them in their original boxes but can;t get them to work at all in Win7 64 bit even with dosbox..............so any working copy and I would gladly pay!
It is much harder to think about doing something than actually doing it!

this is why I never upgraded past vista 64 and win xp 32 bit, all these older games work and play and I even have a cheap netbook just for them and use winxp to play them all with dosbox and my new love d-fend reloaded which is so much better than dosbox when dosbox doesn't work it does. I even got an old copy of Full Metal Plante to work and load.

Sid Meier's Gettysburg works on my Windows 8 laptop. Just install from the disk, not auto run.

Erik mentioned above that a new version of CaW will be still coming out - this is interesting as another thread here mentions that SSG is not really functioning anymore since the sad passing Ian Trout a while back - so is this definitely still going to happen?

Yeah I am onboard with agreeing with Wargame Construction set 2: Tanks. The only game I have seen that actually makes me think of Panzer Leader (AH board game) on a computer.
I have too many too complicated wargames, and not enough sufficiently interested non wargamer friends.

I discovered in Windows 8 that all of my old dos games play perfectly fine.
So, instead of spending hypothetical $10 for games, I would spend real dollars for a Windows 8 machine, but only if you have all your old games.

Do they run from c:\ or do you need an installer dosbox thing - that I always found aggro?

Anyway, I shoved the 5.25" disk in the CD-rom tray thing and it made an unseemly racket.

"Lose" is the opposite of "win." "Loose" is the opposite of "tight."
