The Tudors
Anyone watching this cool tv-series?
Shouldn't this inspire some new cool rennaissance games? So much
intrigue and sex(ok skip the last part for the game but the rest).

Is it good? The promos make it seem like one big soap opera. I had been looking forward to it, but there always seems to be something else I'd rather watch. Is it as good, say, as HBO's/BBC's "Rome," which it seems to be trying to outdo?
Of course, if a developer did a Tudors game they could hide some sex scenes as Easter eggs, and then let the outcry serve as free publicity...

Michael Jordan plays ball. Charles Manson kills people. I torment eager potential customers by not sharing screenshots of "Brother Against Brother." Everyone has a talent.
RE: The Tudors
It is good, its like Crusader Kings in tv form [:)]
Hardly very historical but it would make a great platform for a game. It has
all the elements I like, intrigue, history(some) and sex.
Though, if you are the type that has to double check a lexicon for accuracy every other scene then it might not be the best.
All the characters are there though. And gorgeous women.

RE: The Tudors
I liked the first series. It kind of fills in the blanks on Henry's fickle diplomacy. Whether the series provides historical reasons is another question, but it reminds you that personality and family ties had as much to do with diplomacy as similar objectives and common sense in the age of kings.
RE: The Tudors
Regarding British/English kings and movies.
How come the most prolific regent they ever had, almost never had any good
series/movie about her. There has been some but they werent all inclusive or just
didn't have the right budget.
I am of course talking about Queen Victoria.
With all the murder attempts she survived it would make a great high budget series.
Nevermind the huge empire she administrated longer than anyone else before or after.
Give me a Vicky series
.

b.The Russians
c.The British
d.The South Africans
e.The Chinese
f.The Indians
g.The Australians.
h.The Canadians
i.The New ealanders
j.The Gurkhas
k.The Malayans
l.The Singaporeans
m.The Arabs
im sure theres more but i think that will be enough to be going on with.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

You forgot the Irish
. Although she liked them herself.
I doubt anyone would be offended by a historically correct (yet interesting) series.
Obviously one would have to pick "highlights" from her life but it would be the same with
any attempt at making a movie of anyone. You need to use some creative freedom like Tudors
to make it exciting, as long as it doesn't go to "Michael Bay" extremes.
I just find this period the most interesting in British history. This small island managed to affect
the entire World in a profound way (even though it started earlier).

Wow, I thought she was well liked. I never knew that there were multiple murder attempts on her!
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!
Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!

It would of been interesting if they had reporters as we do today. Could you imagine what would happen if that reporter asked Henry a question about his policies. This might be the answer.

RE: The Tudors
Hmm. I think I'll take a chance on the series, using Showtime In-Demand. (Though my mother is strongly advising me to start watching HBO's "In Treatment." And no, nothing should be read into that...)

On ocation MOM is wrong. The "In Treatment" stinks. I did watch it for about 3 min. Then my brain started to hurt bad. [:(]

If not for the fact that my mother is often wrong, I would consider those fighting words...

RE: The Tudors
This and ROME has really raised the bar on historical dramas. Watching stiff
actors in stiff dramas just doesn't cut it anymore.

What I'm looking forward to is the forthcoming series of George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice and Fire. Rome was excellent but although I haven't yet watched the Tudors, and I probably will, so dont spoil the storyline [:D] whenever the trailers came on tv it seemed to have the appearance of a soap opera with lots of moody looks and shouting...Hope I'm wrong.
RE: The Tudors
