Excellent game, I have it however I run it in DOSBOX, dosbox is an excellent piece of software for older games. With dosbox I can run it in a "window mode" which is good as running the old dos games in full screen don't look as good as they use to.

ORIGINAL: Viking67

I have DOSBox but the issue I run into, is if fails to read my CD ROM in the drive.

This error was a known issue with the game on release. There is a patch that addresses it - try Google - possibly found at Web Grognards.

Though the game was advertised as being Win95 compatible I was only ever able to get it running on one system - and to this day I still don't know why.

It's a great game with a very confusing supply system but I hope you can get it going!

I thought Michael Collins would be on the Republican Brodcasting Network, but not that one!

I have tried this before... I have the patch and running Invade in DOSBox... still does not recognize the CD when it is in the drive.

Has anyone cracked this problem?

I never solved the problem.

Instead, way back in 2001, while trying to solve the problem, I discovered SSG's game The Ardennes Offensive 2 "TAO2"

This led to:
Korsun Pocket
Battles in Normandy
Battles in Italy
Battlefront
Kharkov

All these games are a zillion times better than America Invades.

I seem to recall that while the other games in that series, Stalingrad and I think some Market Garden game were playable, the D-Day game was eventually left with a very serious bug or two that never got fixed. I think it did have something to do with the game simply not running on some systems, but don't quote me on that, it 's a very vague recollection.

Edit: Here, I did a Google search for "d-day america invades bug" and there are some discussions regarding problems with the game.

Viking, have you mounted the CD drive inside dosbox?
