With the latest update and the darth mod, Empire Total War is more than stable and a fun game. However wether you should get sins of a solar empire or Empire total war, is completely up to taste. Do you want a space empire or an 18th Century one?

well, it has bee na long long time since I played >?? picture big empy circle here... Thegame had eight unique races, Psyons or something liek that, strange looking ones with giant heads where my favorite.... then there was a few others more modern... but nothing has really captured my attention! BUT I loved the Total war.. Shogun Rome Medievil M2with  mods.. playingStainless Steal and did not go for EMpire due to the press it recieved.. thats probably the direction I will go, and my sys seems to have no graphics issues no matter what I through at it.. must be the waythe card and system memory add up.. runnign a faster quad.. with lots of ram and a chepo.. 512 nvidea card... the card came wit hthe system and really does well at super high settingon everything! thats anotherstory... so.. it looks like I will just have to get Empire and forgo the pleasure of Sins in space

I would actually Recommend getting Napoleon Total War over Empire(if you didn't already buy it). However, Empire has a much larger Campaign map that covers Europe, India, and the Americas. Napoleon only covers Europe and North Africa(Egypt) you don't really get a "master" campaign where you get Europe/Africa together.

Here is it in a nut shell:

Napoleon - Continued Support by CA, slightly better graphics, attrition system, but Campaigns are very limited and suck.(And only covers Europe)

Empire - Pretty much dead as far as support from CA, but More(WAY MORE) Factions, India + America + Europe + A few territories in South America + Trade theatres Campaign Map, Great graphics.

Right now, if you already have Empire, Napoleon doesn't do much. Plus the lack of playable factions and grand Campaigns in Napoleon doesn't justify the purchase. Also, Empire covers a century of warfare while Napoleon total war covers only like 14 years.

Can't see the point of buying Empire now, unless dirt cheap. Might as as well buy Nappy when that is released, and SoaSE now that they are selling the complete bundle with the final 'mini-expansion' released.

I could be wrong, but I think Empire is on of those Steam games, so no matter what way you buy it, it's all the same, you'll install on Steam and download the latest from there..

There was issues with the download stream version and installing mods that the DVD did not .

the issue I have with nappy is the campeigns they are, as it seems from previews.. scripted.. I like a more free empire building and like the idea of playing in the 1700s.. nappy looks like a future purchase..
After all the best total war has always come out of the modding community IMO
so no nappy, not until I get one and its in bed .. oh  crack myself up!!!

I enjoy both ETW and SotSE. Another option to consider is SotS with expansions. Its a pretty dang fun game too.

Imperium Galactica 2 is better than Sins as a real time 4X and cheaper.
