Glowing preview of Flashpoint Campaigns..

Post by wodin »

Thought I'd post this here aswell..just in case anyone has missed the news on this game.

Chelco has given it a glowing preview..

His closing comment..."In closing, this one of the most innovative war game designs in recent times. The fidelity of tactical combat, the flexibility and easiness of access to the capabilities of the game engine alone are worth the price of admission. The turn resolution mechanics, so original and meaningful for a wholesome command & control experience, will definitively be noticed by hobbyist wargamers and war simulation professionals alike."

Jason, looks like a modern game to consider [:)], I haven't played Flashpoint Germany. What's your impression of this game so far?

This is not the same game as the original. In some ways in the layout and interface it may look the same, but under the hood it is totally different. 90% of the code was rewritten. It is true that the maps are not as "pretty" as FPG, but the maps of FPRS have two features that beat the maps of FPG. They are highly functional (the terrain on the maps of FPG were hard to read unlike FPRS), and they are moddable. The maps in FPG were all you got. In FPRS, you can create your own maps with a little effort. In fact you can use your own artwork.

Looks really interesting, especially the variable turn lengths.

FPG had 4 maps. I created 26 maps for FPC:RS. Big difference. [8D]

The original was a good game. This is much closer to a great game. But don't take my word for it, more reviews will be coming out soon. This will be far from the only review this game series gets. [&o]

Really positive & in depth review from an objective guy that knows Wargames.
