I can't wait. Yes expensive BUT if you love this scale and are a solo gamer it's worth every penny. My BGG secret Santa has pre ordered me Combat Vol2!

Very excited to get it. Campaign sounds amazing.

As my Secret Santa got me this it has meant I have been able to pre order Western Front Ace. SO both games I've been so looking forward too but wasn't sure how I could afford both has been sorted. Both these board games have been top of my want list full stop. Now waiting on Steel Tigers, Second Front and see what WDS do with Squad Battles. Board games I'm all sorted for.

Out of curiosity, I checked out the rulebook for Combat!. Obviously, you guys are younger and smarter, as there is no way I could handle the game, even though the depth and detail looks truly amazing. Thing is, for me at least, I have not become smarter in my senior years. Just the opposite. [;)]

Have fun, and a screenshot or short AAR would be great.

Usually what I do is before I read the rulebook I check the playthrough videos. It helps a lot with me when reading the book.
There are several of these videos for Combat!.

I struggle with this game. Opened but not played. Age I think. I looked at the rules for Ambush and battle Hymn, that I played many times. They look even more complex these days.

That’s what I see as well, however, I was able to get through the dvg games of Pavlov House and the others. Too lazy at times to read a ton of rules. It’s easier to fire up the computer

I've just pre-ordered the Deluxe version of Field of Fire, but Combat! seems very interesting. How does both compared to each other in terms of tactics, re-playability, learning curve and enjoyment (excluding the fact that FoF as cards for maps)? Combat! seems easier to learn, but the Deluxe version of FoF has a new rewritten ruleset with a tutorial rulebook and scenario.

Thanks

$139!!! How can people afford board games these days? But then after inflation in 1973 dollars that's only about $20 so looking at it that way it's not so much. Still, I likely wouldn't wake up in the morning if I spent that on a game. My wife would see to that.
