The Next War boardgame

Post by dean »

This has probably been asked before, but has there ever been any talk of redoing the board wargame called 'The Next War' for the PC?

Meaning the SPI WWIII board game? There were versions of that done as scenarios for The Operational Art of War and they worked pretty well, IIRC and will be compatible with the upcoming updated version.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, this is the game to which I was referring. ‘The Next War’, like ‘War in the Pacific’ was one of those monster board wargames that I could not resist purchasing. However, because of the time demands of the game, I never got into either game as much as I had wanted. Fortunately I now have the PC version of ‘War in the Pacific’.

I am curious about why the full-blown game had not been done. Lack of interest on the part of developers? difficulty of coding, insufficient market demand, legal/ownership rights to the game etc…?
