First Beta Wave Information

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

I've been going through all the beta applications today and I just wanted to say a few things. First, we have an impressive group of customers! I've read through every single application (and there were a lot!) which frankly has taken most of the day and based on that I'm sure about 90% of you are fully qualified to participate in the first test wave.

Unfortunately, we had about 10x the applications we can actually accept in the first wave, so only about 10% will actually get invitations for that initial beta test. I expect there will likely be three more waves, each about the size of the first, but it means some hard choices had to be made. Frankly, I'd love to add you all in, but there's only so much feedback Elliot and I can handle before we become overwhelmed and it becomes counter-productive and a waste of the testers' efforts.

With all that said, those of you who do not get invitations (later this week, sent to the e-mail address you applied with - please make sure you haven't blocked/spam-filtered our mailings!) to the first wave, we'll be pulling the future waves from the same pool. Where the computer specs match our needs and testers seem otherwise equivalent in terms of experience and skill, the tie-breaks are by order of application, so the earlier you got your application in, the better.

Thank you all for taking the time to apply and I look forward to seeing many of you in the tester forum next week.

Regards,

- Erik

Were all super excited!!

Can we expect to see more information, videos and gameplay before release? For those who dont get into the beta waves to enjoy some DW2 crumbs until release [:D]

Good luck for the beta. I did not apply myself. I have another beta on going. But, I wish plenty of good things for this game.

Oh man, now I feel like I was way too lazy in my application part where I was supposed to explain why I'm worth being a tester.

"Where the computer specs match our needs"

Pretty sure I have the exact same unusual specs as Eric's machine based on his comments during the live stream. :(

I hope no one actually gets upset if they don't make the beta, more can certainly be less if there is an overwhelming influx of issue reporting, especially if people are submitting dupes.

The e-mail address that needs to be allowed is the same that sent out the confirmation for the beta registration, I assume?

Thanks for being transparent Erik.

Now, if 90% of you could lose your email logins over the coming week - that would be very handy.

[:D]

Good luck one and all.

Hrmmm. So four waves of beta test. My experience in doing some beta work had about a month or so of testing per session so looks like possibly a third/fourth quarter release. Just in time for the holidays though I think dropping it before would garner more attention especially if some minor dlc was planned for the holidays too. But that is of course up to the marketing gurus.

I was going to say, it might be good to get an update every maybe 3 or 4 days or weekly, on how the beta testing and subsequent forum is going.

Highlights of issues raised/discussions had, what the current outcome of them are.

Receive further, secondary feedback on them from a wider audience.

Something to keep peeps that haven't gotten into beta yet still engaged and invested, once all the newbie questions dry up around here.

It'd be good to be able to follow along with development still, if not primarily partake.

As well as having a summary of previous testing feedback for new testers in later waves.

Maybe some sort of Beta newsletter.

good luck to all! only 10% get an invitation.. that's a pity :D

btw i just noticed that my specs in the beta application are probably outdated by the next review... because i ordered new Hardware... is there any way to edit the application if you want to use the same pool in the future?
