Question about Start a new game - Other Empires screen

Hi everyone,

I am quite new here. I have a rather specific question about the Start a new game - Other Empires screen and manually added AI opponents in the second part of the window.

If both race and government are set to random for an AI opponent, are the government preferences for each race taken into account even though both choices are set to random? I assume that this is considered for normal random AI opponents. I asked this question because I could select all combinations. Unfortunately, I don't know how I could test this or what exactly the preferences are for individual races.

Maybe someone has a quick answer for me. Thank you in advance.

I can't say for certain, but I can say that I've never had a random Teekan Hive Mind in my many games.

So no, it does not allow all governments in random empires.

Yes, I often leave them on Random, and they always seem to choose something appropriate - usually one of the preferred government types, but certainly never a disallowed one.

what exactly the preferences are for individual races.

Oh, and if you choose the race in the setup, in the description along the side, it will list the preferred types for it.
