A few questions

Post by gamerdoc »

Hi,

I am considering to buy this game but a few questions:

1. Does this game support resolutions greater than 1080? Does it scale? I use a 4k monitor and if the font/info is illegible, it won't work for me.
2. One of the criticisms I read about the game is sound. I hear most of sounds are recycled and very repetitive (I heard there is even German voice overs). Any plan to make this better?
3. I hear 2D maps are functional but 3D maps aren't. Is there any plan to improve this? Graphics is not everything but it's nice to have.
4. It's too bad the game did not participate the summer sale. I was tempted but decided to skip this time at the current price ($56 CD seems stiff for a game based on a 1990 game engine, research and additional mechanics notwithstanding). Do you guys plan to have another sale soon?

Thanks.

Good day! Thank you for the questions and your interest:
1. Does this game support resolutions greater than 1080? Does it scale? I use a 4k monitor and if the font/info is illegible, it won't work for me.
It does. There is a thread that explains how to do so here --> https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8&t=378761
2. One of the criticisms I read about the game is sound. I hear most of sounds are recycled and very repetitive (I heard there is even German voice overs). Any plan to make this better?
The sounds were revamped by Chris with the 1.20 UPDATE.
3. I hear 2D maps are functional but 3D maps aren't. Is there any plan to improve this? Graphics is not everything but it's nice to have.
There is a map mod made by Umbra that is exceptional and one I use regularly when playing. It takes the 2D Terrain tiles and flattens them to make reading the map easier.
4. It's too bad the game did not participate the summer sale. I was tempted but decided to skip this time at the current price ($56 CD seems stiff for a game based on a 1990 game engine, research and additional mechanics notwithstanding). Do you guys plan to have another sale soon?
While it looks similar, I would argue that it is not the 1990 game engine. It has been, in essence, rewritten and modernized. We focused heavily on the play against the AI. This is where the game thrives, striving to bring you a competent AI to play against. Let alone the many hundreds of hours of game play that is available with the over 100 scenarios plus two A Week in campaigns. Plus a full suite of editors to create your own goodies. And... more DLC's on the way.

Considering the team has been working on that for around 10 years to bring you the best Vietnam turn based experience, I don't think 56.00 is all that bad, especially if you break it down by the hours that one will play it.

Plus, you have nearly instant support by the team!
