A Week In Binh Long Performance

Post by MarechalJoffre »

After playing through the tutorials and a couple of smaller scenarios, I decided to try out the aforementioned scenario. The performance however is so slow and sluggish that it takes a single unit up to a minute to move down the road.

I have tried the recommendations listed in "Tech Support FAQ" to no avail. Is this a scenario specific issue? I understand the scenario is very complex and the map is huge, so maybe there's no avoiding it.

I don't have a problem running it on my machine, as noted in the campaign videos I've been doing: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7giuN ... z13dubeX-g.

Some key things though, you definitely don't want to have the labels on when playing. Turn them on occasionally for reference, but if you leave them on, you will see a performance hit.

Also, depending on the view you are using, for long movements I will zoom out to level 8 or 9, especially for helicopters. This usually expedites any movement to be much quicker.

During the AI turn, you can play with the blue buttons on the top row, this will drastically speed up the AI, but keep in mind it will turn off the sound (part of the speeding up is killing the firing and movement sounds)

Turns out it was the "No 3D" exe that I was using to play the game. Running the regular .exe now and gameplay is much smoother.

Oh, that's good to know! I wouldn't have guessed that. Thank you for pointing it out!
