At what point am I ready for the intro scenarios?

Honestly you should just play. It's best not to overthink the game. Playing is a much better way to learn than trying to read 500 pages and digest them. The best feedback loop is: play -> check manual if stumped -> play

strongly advise do the walk through in Ch4 exactly as set out. There is a fair bit of how to use the UI in that section that may avoid frustration later on. It ends at the completion of the Soviet T2 of the Velikie Luki scenario but it covers a lot such as how to set up attacks and be able to advance afterwards, how to shift brigades from on map CU to attached SU and so on.

At the end of the structured bit either play on, or go back to the beginning and try out your own ideas. the whole scenario will take around 1 hour so its no great commitment.
