Does it WAD or is it a bug?

I cannot see the screenshot but I believe it was covered already in another topic.

Pratically the attacking forces were very huge compared to the defenders - probably a weak, tiny and / or depleted unit; and simply gets overwhelmed no matter what.
I've seen it a few times in Riga during T1, where the defending unit is pratically a fortified zone or a NKVD regiment at gimp TOE; and gets the brunt of a German motorized division coming in.

The division simply 'scouts' and brushes away the unit that is too weak to resist or oppose.

Pratically if the defending unit after the combat has far too few elements combat ready (non eliminated, non damaged, non disrupted), it will retreat or rout anyhow!

I am sure others that know the game better than I can explain it better, and in a more precise way. But it ought to be WAD.

I think we need some dev explanation here. As this does not make sense to me.

I thought that you *only* get a scouted result if the odds are less than 2-to-1?

If the odds are less than 2-to-1, how could you possibly get the unit to retreat?

Something sounds fishy.....

Happens to both sides and can be consistently repeated at Riga. I've only really seen it happen in Urban combat.

its WAD, you see it a lot if a unit is hit with overwhelming strength or is already weak.

In particular, losses come out of the combat elements so the unit is left as unready or even depleted. If so it displaces (next to a ZoC).

Remember this particular test applies at the end of the combat, so disrupted elements are not being counted. Once the combat is closed (ie the result posted and the consequences applied), those disruptions are then flipped to fatigue.

I am running 08 patch and noticed the following against the axis AI.
The AI will run multiple attacks with insufficient forces which end up with a scouted result (can be 2-4 times) before the final rout or retreat.
For each attack soviets will lose a few men directly in the divisions but what concerned me was that i was consistently losing a significant number of planes to every scouting attack even when axis was not committing any planes.
Losses were from ops and flak.
Is this working as designed ?
