A few questions regaring transfer of units to another TB

Post by AbeMuc »

Dear Wargames,

as I am approaching Winter im my first Campaign 41 playthrough I will soon start transfering tank division to another theater or reserve box.

I have read many discussions on this topic and came to the conclusion to send my tank division away from the harsh winter is the best option. But some questions still remain:

1. What would you prefer? Sending the panzer divisions to the Western Theatre or to the Reserve Box? In Western Theatre the units refit more slowly if I recall correctly. But in the Reserve Box someone mentioned the divisons are going to get stripped of their trucks and don`t get them back when transferring back to the map. '

2. Enhanced theatre box on/off?
If enhanced theate box is set to off, units with a future scheduled transfer can not be sent back to another TB/National Reserve. What to do with these panzer formations. Moving them slowly within the initial german borders to prevent them from harsch winter rules?

3. How to transfer correctly? Is it correct, that following requirements have to be met, or do I miss something?
  • Units has no withdraw date (if enhanced TB control isoff)
  • Unit has to be static in the location for at least 1 complete turn
  • Unit is not in an enemy ZoC
  • Unit has to be on a rail hex that is connecte to the wider rail net
  • Unit has to be at least 4 hexes away from the enemy
  • Unit has to have sufficient SMP
Thanks in advance for your help!

Sending the Panzer divisions into the reserve is a waste of time in this situation. There is no combat in the Western Europe TB, they still get replacements there and furthermore it contributes to the TB's requirements, which lets you bring out infantry divisions from Western Europe to the map so you don't actually field less divisions than before.

Sending your Panzers to Western Europe is the best option, because you then can send Infantry from there to the map in exchange.

If you have Enhanced Theater control off, you´ll never be able to send your divisions back to the map when there is no planned transfer doing so.

It´s at least 8 hexes from the enemy now. One of the patches changed it.
