I suppose it's nice that you have historical names for airbases and air groups. But I would prefer not having to know that IAD is a fighter group much less what an LTAP is. (I have no idea, except that it seems to prefer short range, minimal capacity transports.) Keep the historical names, sure, but add some indication in english that a group is composed of fighters, tactical bombers, or crappy transports.

Air bases are on map feature and players can build them. No more wandering with AB counters all over the map. Named are after the place where they are located.
