Recruiting Testers for the WITE2: Steel Inferno Expansion

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

We're recruiting testers for a new scenario and campaign expansion for Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2 called Steel Inferno. If you enjoy War in the East 2 and think you'd be good at giving us feedback on some new scenarios and campaigns as well as trying new internal beta versions, you can apply here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/beta/gary-g ... el-inferno

We expect to pick testers from those who have applied about a week from now.

Regards,

- Erik

Any news on this expansion? I went through the forum, slitherine twitch, youtube channel, matrix page is empty...

I know this is a niche game made by a small studio. But man, i think you could use a bit more of PR to make this game more popular.

There will be an expansion, but all I can say is that it is expected sometime in 2022. I don't think Matrix likes to announce release dates until they are fairly close and locked in. As for the exact scenarios in the expansion, that's probably on us (2by3), because we don't have a final list of scenarios that will be in the first expansion. We have enough done now to start testing, but there's still some question about what will be the last scenario included. There are a few possibilities and depends on how things progress on the development side. I don't know when Matrix will start giving out information re the scenarios, as that's something up to marketing, and it may be impacted by when we finalize the scenario list. I will tease and say that we have a scenario that is a personal favorite of mine. It covers a part of the war that has gotten very little or no coverage in any wargame that I've seen, and it provides a very different and intriguing set of choices for the players.

You'll be notified by Matrix if you've been selected as a tester, I think via email. The new testers have not been signed up yet. We're still waiting for the installer, but I expect it will be ready and new testers will be notified by the end of this week. Sorry for the delay.

Even if it is a new map, I would love to see an August Storm scenario with WITE2 engine. ;)

Ah, thanks Stamb.

So the question is, will there be a Winter War scenario, even if it is not a JB favourite?

Would love to see a Winter War scenario. By the way, are you still looking for beta testers or are you done?

Erik was talking about possibly adding a few more testers in the near future for some additional testing of the final beta scenarios. I'd suggest signing up if you are interested as you might get let in over the next week or two.

Just in case, Philippe Thibaut, in his new endeavour after Ageod, released a Winter War game.

A question to Joel.

IIRC Finland theater was not added to the Great Campaign because of AI issues.

Was it considered to add it as a PBEM only scenario? Perhaps DarenMoss' scenario could be made official.
